Moving Floorboards back

Post by HMB Don »

I got the left floorboard moved back 3 1/2 inchs, it wasn't bad. But it sure makes riding the Voyager much better then before. I've logged over 1,000 miles with just the left moved back, tomorrow I be riding to NorCal Member Jerry Z's. garage to fab the right side floorboard, which will need to be cut and welded back togather.

One draw back is that the floorboard on the left drags much sooner, I might have to reposition that floorboard just a bit higher or slow down. Will have them finished and powder coated by Kanab. Trying to make me a hot rod special.

I now have a seating position like the 1200 Voyager, which fits me much better. I'm sure you'll like what I've done when you see me in Kanab, UT. If you like it vote for me during the bike show. Is that cheating asking for votes this far out?

Looking foreward to seeing the bike at Kanab. Once in a while I want to slide my feet back during an all day ride and the heel shift does get in the way. Most of the time though I have my heels on the boards and my toes on the highway pegs. Sounds to me like you possibly created the Goldwing riding position on the Voyager.

I finished the right floorboard yesterday, it was a 128 mile ride home. What a differance it made, feels much better for me with my short inseam. I can now use the whole floorboard to move my feet and I adjusted the rear brake pedal down. I had to reposition the left floorboard it was to low and I was dragging hard parts. I raised it 3/8 inch and it made a big difference, feels alot like the 1200 Voyager. Now all I need is a shaft drive assy. Takes a lot of pressure off the back side so I will now be able to ride all day with of back pain.

All it took was a wielder, hacksaw, grinder, drill and a whole day. Total parts $150.00 included were new right floorboard mounting bracket, new shift rod, 15" of 1/4" flat steel, some spray paint.
