Update on my replacement in Oct 2012. Using my extended warranty on my 09, the dealer replaced the shift indicator at 18000 miles, which is a large job. Nearly 6000 miles later, the issue has never returned.

There is an acknowledged issue with the connector for the gear switch corroding. Contact your dealer for a replacement. I was talking to the Canadian Ontario rep about this just 2 weeks ago.
The fix is now out.
Mine was replaced after the first year and began doing the same thing (bouncing) after 3 months. I'll let them replace (under warranty) the switch next oil/antifreeze change.
