search for right side mirror for Voyager 12

Post by Charles L. »

ooh, i did a bad thing, pulled the right side mirror out of the black base on my 97 Voyager. Well, i mean i didn't pull it out, but a little shelf in my garage did, and now i have to find the mirror with the base. Anyone got any suggestions ? Certainly appreciate any leads. Thanks. Charles

Carl Leo.
eBay.
If price is no object, a Kawasaki dealer.
Or maybe someone here has one laying around. . . ?

At least I think a mirror will be easier (and cheaper) to replace than a saddle-bag top! I would start with Carl Leo. I was on eBay a couple of days ago and some guy is parting out a '94 (mine's a '95 - huuuuge difference! ) though I don't recall seeing mirrors but then I wasn't looking for mirrors.

If it just pulled apart and didn't break the plastic You might be able to repair it.
If you are careful sometimes you can use a razor knife and pop the bezel off the front and remove the mirror and do your repair then use ABS pipe cement (ABS only) and put the bezel back on. or use the procedure in the tech section.
I had one that the stud pulled out of the base. I drilled the hole threw and put a socket head bolt up from the bottom and it worked great

They are a little cheaper through Bikebandit.com than from Kawasaki OEM. You can get it in about 3 days.

I've used the 3m black silicone gasket seal on the mirror bezel and it works well also, FYI

Thanks folks for the tips. But you know what, i'm going to try to repair it myself first. If i can just get the mirror off without it breaking [stand back, wouldn't want you to get hit with pieces of shattered glass] maybe i'll be lucky ??

Charles, I have a right side mirror case that you can have if interested. It would need to have your glass installed into it as I had a replacement glass put in it at one time. It's not glued in place at this time. All I would ask is that you pay for shipping. If interested call me as my number is listed in my profile.

Furchin, Thanks so much for the offer. I'm in the middle of a repair try. So far i've got the post securely anchored in the base using some great stuff called Marine Tex. Now what seems pretty difficult is removing that "bezel" so i can pop out the mirror and set up the spring etc.

Charles, the bezels are a little tricky to remove but they do come off. Whatever you use for a pry tool go slow and easy as the bezel plastic is soft and nicks easily. (Ask me how I know!)

Hi Everyone,
Sorry to hear about the mirror. I took the plastic part from around my R/S mirror to tighten
up the nut to stop mirror from moving when going down the road. I used a small screw driver and took my time, Came off fairly easy. Good Luck!!

From the sound of the prices on body parts, I hope I never lay my Voyager Down!

I know everyone probably knows this but a glass place can cut you a mirror glass to replace any mirror for just a couple bucks if it gets broke. I did the same for the trunk mirror some years ago. Cost me about five bucks. If you cant get the mirror glass out to fix it, just break it and gently remove the bezel and replace the mirror.
