While coming home today I noticed an oscillation noise, like a woooo-wooooo-woooo type noise. Not fast, like 2-3 cycles per second at 60-75 mph, and only under power with no noticeable vibration. It gets more pronounced in a turn or louder.

Any ideas?

What has been done to the bike recently ? Any tire changes or change in tire pressure ? I had that same noise when I first purchased mine , the rear axle was at about 100 foot lbs. Same issue; it would be more pronounced going into a turn at about the same speed. I would check out the rear end since it seems to have just started and take a good look at the wheel bearings also for looseness . Check the final drive for proper oil level also. Hey ;it's a starting point, post what you find. We love a challenge

Look at the rear tire and see if it's cupped. If the noise is more pronounced while turning, say left, then see if the left side of the tire is cupped more than the right.

Chris is correct. I know my tires are cupped and it seems like every speed range produces a weird noise.
Luckily I learn to live with it.

Next tire change I'm trying the Dyna beads for balancing

My rear tire is almost new, less than 3000 miles on it, I have always kept it at 40psi but will check it. I will also change the rear oil along with my engine oil......its time. I need to hold it together for a couple more months till we move. Then it will go into the shop to be torn apart for some much needed maintenance that's needed.

Its time to redo all the seals in the cooling system and rebuild the carbs.

If you don't already, I'd suggest regular use of SeaFoam in the gas tank, once per month at least, to keep the fuel system clear of varnish, absorb any moisture in the system, and just to keep it running smooth. It's only $8-$10 per can, 1 ounce per gallon of fuel, so a single can will treat 16 gallons. At $0.50-$0.63 per gallon, it's a very inexpensive way to keep the carbs clean. Cheers!

Agree- . I've used Sea Foam for many many years in all my engines. Great cleaner & stabilizer for storage

Menards here sells it by the gallon.

Unfortunately the carbs have been a problem since I got it. It boogs and stumbles under 2500 rpm and the idle adjust doesn't work either. I picked up a complete set of carbs from ebay and just haven't got around to getting the parts to rebuild them yet. Like I said....after the move it will get my full attention, so it wont be down for long.
