Saw another XII

Post by cushman eagle »

I saw another XII today, coming home with a truck from working in Kentucky. It was a tan one and was entering the southbound lane of I-71 between Columbus and Cincinnati near route 38 about 11:00 AM.Was it anyone's on this forum? Outside of those I saw at Logan, this was the 5th one I have seen this year, which is 5 times as many as I have seen since I bought mine almost four years ago.  Maybe they are making more .

I have seen similar things....Never saw a Voyager 1700 'till I got mine, now I see them all the time. I see them sometimes in my sleep, too.

Up until I found my 88 locked away in a garage I had never even heard of one before, then I started seeing more and more of them, Florida is infested with the critters, now that I added a Nomad to the stable, I see those everywhere too.

They still seem to be relatively scarce in Louisiana. I know of only 2 other owners besides myself. Only seen a green one on the road once some 3 years ago.

Is it just me or do the rest of you get a rush when you do see another XII rolling down the road? :oh:
I swear my wife must think I'm nuts cause I get excited. I guess for me it's like a woman seeing a new pair of shoes she would like to have!!!! :gig:

Lori says I have XII radar, I can spot them in a parking lot while riding down the road, always point them out to her and get exited about it. She says how did you see that bike, between all those cars and behind a truck, there is just something wrong about that. :-O

I know xii, s are rare in my area... It took me about three years to find the one I have, thats with leaving my phone # at 3 area dealerships in case they take one on trade! When I finally found one this summer it was at a dealership I called right away I said "don't sell it "Im coming to see it!" , when I got there was a small line up to see it and they where pissed when I bought it so was my wife but she changed her mind after one ride. I haven't seen one all summer around here, not on the road, show and shines or area bike rallies. I live in Ottawa Canada.

...maumee ohio is a small suburb of toledo that we pass thru regularly to get to our favorite ride, westward along the maumee river...... I spotted a voy 12 ahead of our group turn into a gas station, and of course, I sang out at a red light " there's a VOYAGER !!..... the light turned green ... and because I'm the only one that has one, ... no one seemed to care. after the ride was over, and we were sitting on our deck, I mentioned it..... all others were in ageeence, that it was a WING,, I sat back and did'nt argue the fact with the un-trained eye, but when I see the un-mistaken shape of the 4 down turned pipes, the rear forward facing speakers on top of the travel trunk...... on and on........ WE OWNERS know !! the shape and sound, I sat back, took a sip off of my beverage and grinned.... yeah ... IT was a wing , you guys are right again :wnk2: ............................tony

Like a new mother being able to pick her baby out of a crowd of crying babies. They just know it when they see it. We owners are the same way.
Last evening while traveling through the local mountains (in dads van, him driving) two bikes were coming down the road and as they passed I could see the first one was a XII. Darker in color (green or black, couldn't tell) but I was able to spot the differences and like you said, of the 4 in the van I was the only one who seemed to care.

I used to be the same way when I'd see another ZRX1100 or 1200. Kawasaki probably sold a slew of them but I found them scarce in Louisiana. Everyone seems to be into Harleys or sport bikes. Retro street bikes people don't seem to gravitate toward. I seem to have had a penchant for buying bikes that went against the popular trends.

..... ahhhhh the zrx 1100, I'm not so sure about there ever being a "slew " of them sold....as I see extreme few of them on the streets. they remind me of my kz1000-z1-r that I bought new in 1978, ON STEROIDS !!! we have one in the stable, in fact, I just completed doing a stage 3 jet kit , new chain and oversize rear sprocket, d&d exhaust, on and on,, not factory "lean" and obstructed any longer!!my son has 11k on it this year, and plans on taking it to the rally next july,, It will probably be close to having 40k on the clock by then. I certainly couldn't ride it that far, but am certain that it would go anywhere you point the steering !! The zrx 1100 , and our concourse, will both be at next years rally,as my son's best friend has agreed to buy the connie. ( I am working on these 19 year olds to join the AVA) : along with our 03 voy 12, MY hynee will fare the best out of the three !!! :gig: :hpdc: .....young folk have got to learn by the school of hard knocks :-O

I never seen one or even heard of one untill I stumbled on my 86 in Houston,Texas last month. It had only 24,000 Miles on it and excellent shape for $2000. Exactly what i was looking for. It was too big to fit in the back of my truck, So the only alternative was to ride it 800 miles home. I had a few people come up and say that they have never seen one or even knew that Kawasaki made one.

Towtrucking,
There are a couple of things that make the '86 Voyager different from all following Voyagers. The most important is the Igniter module that has a major problem where it can cause the breakage of the starter chain. (This requires a split engine repair.) Replacing with a late '87 or later Ignither will fix that problem.. Just do a search of the forum for details.
