Recommended tires..

Update on my rear E3, I mounted it at 5,800 and yesterday I checked the odo 20,200 then checked the E3 rear tire. Looks like it will get me up to Duanes Ride In. Thats about another 2,500 miles, but I'll be mounting a new rear for the ride to Ripley, TN.

I mounted a Commander ll on the front at 12k and it still looks new after 8k. So maybe a rear Commander ll, BUT there not made in the USA like the E3. So I have a bit of thinking to do, because it would be nice to have matching tires. The Commander ll is taller then the E3, so now I can feel the front end of the 1700 wonder, because of the rake of the forks. But harder to drag the floorboards.

My rear E3 180/60-16 bias is biting the dust at 17K. Not as much as some, but better than the Metzler radials or the stock, each of which gave me 7000.

But, Dunlop doesn't make the 180/60 any more except as a radial. Any recent suggestions other than the American Elite?

I have also run the Metz 880, biggest thing is to run the tire pressure listed on the tire and not the manual.
Ran them on a Suzuki Cavalcade, very heavy bike V4, still got 16,000 rear and 14,000 front, but you must watch tire pressures.

Best thing is find a tire you like and stay with it.
