Excited and smitten
I have been riding daily for the past 8 years and I can't say I would ever be comfortable driving a box again. About 8 years ago I came across an ad for a Honda 70 Cub Passport and thought it was a misprint (as I had only known of the Passport SUV's). Ended up learning about them and buying it. Loved it, learned my motorcycle maintenance on it and even did upgrades from lights to engine. Sadly it got stolen and I started from scratch with a junkyard model. The rest is pretty much history. (I actually started writing all that history and then realized it was way to much info/TMI)
Just picked up my first voyager today and am super excited about this bike. Great handling, smooth power band, comfy seating and super low maintenance (I do most of my own so its nice to be able to just ride). The price was a steal and to my knowledge it may have some history with the folks on this board. The owner was very knowledgeable about the bike, so much so that apparently he even designed with a friend a DIY trailer hitch that made it onto these boards.
All that to say, I am glad to be part of what seems from my reading to be an awesome and intelligent community. Looking forward to contributing and reaping the benefits of everything it has to offer!!

Re: Excited and smitten
Welcome Aaron! I sent you an email letting you know that our 25th Annual American Voyager Association rally is in Asheville next month, July 7-10. You still have time to register but just barely as registrations must be in by Wednesday, June 25th. More info and registration form here - http://www.amervoyassoc.org/2014rally.php.
At least come by if you can and meet some fellow Voyager owners!

Re: Excited and smitten
Welcome, sorry about the theft and glad you found a Voyager XII. They Are GREAT!
Would be wonderful like Ron said if you could at least stop by and see a collection of friend and fellow riders who all share in the adventure of Voyaging (mostly on Voyagers)!
You'll get first hand sight of some of the modifications available and done by this group of great folks.
Read posts, ask questions and hopefully you'll decide to join the AVA organization.
Love to see you and your S-O at the rally in 2 weeks.

Re: Excited and smitten
Oh I will definitely be showing up to chat and such at the rally. I own a cafe in downtown Asheville, so I don't really have the time to be there for the whole thing, hence not registering for it. I have to say of all the forums I have been part of, this one definitely seems to be both the friendliest and the most helpful/knowledgeable!
There are some mods I will be doing before the S.O. and I start our traveling. The main reason I decided to finally bite the bullet and get a serious touring bike was that her and I want to use it to travel the americas with it (yep, I mean all of them). We have a few projects to finish first but likely within the next year or two we should have put enough savings away to go on our very extended vacation . Thankfully the guy we bought it from already had the hitch for a trailer as that is one thing I will be adding.
Well before I go rambling to long (I sometimes have an issue with keeping things concise ), lets just say you all will be hearing from me on a number of topics in the near future. Don't worry though, I know how to use the search function!
Oh, and the name is Aaron

Re: Excited and smitten
Hey Aaron, can you tell us if the Hi-Fi Cafe offers a smile with each 10" pizza?
Rumor is its pretty darned good! Here's a link if you're not sure of the place HiFi_Cafe
If you can, do me a favor, either park your new bike close to the entrance or hang a sign/banner inviting AVA members in for a visit.

Re: Excited and smitten
Aaron, the bike show is Tuesday evening, starting at 8:00 somewhere on the grounds of the Crowne Plaza (won't be hard to find!) That would be a great time to see other bikes and meet a lot of people.
