Just thought I would post this in case anyone was considering a purchase...
In June I ordered a Clearview shield for my 2010 Voyager. I chose the XL size since it was just a tad shorter than the stock shield, the gray tint (I am mainly a day rider), and the 5 position vent (the main reason for the purchase)
The shields are made to order so once they had my money (you pay up front, they charge immediately, not on shipment) they sent an e-mail that the process takes 12-18 business days. For the first two weeks, I heard nothing but then as the shield began production, I would get update e-mails on it's progress. Finally after three weeks, I received a UPS ship notice and the waiting game really began as it shipped right before a weekend
Once the shield arrived, it is packaged VERY well, very thick padding pieces are in the box along with the shield itself covered in a protective tape. I gently removed the old shield and cleaned up the area where it was (you would be amazed at the places dead bugs can get into) I tore the lower half of the protective tape off the new shield (if you remove it all, you have to pay a %20 restock fee, a lot on a $200 shield) and then gently installed it into place. The fit was perfect, all holes lined up, no issues with installation other than another person would have been helpful!
Here is where it gets a bit sticky. Once you remove the tape, as per the above, it is pretty much yours. They suggest a ride to test performance and view, etc, BEFORE removing the tape. As I prefer the tall shield, this would have been impossible for me as you cannot see through it so I bit the bullet and removed the tape on the bike. First impression is it looks great. The shield has a curved lip at the top, the tint looks very nice, the vent fits nice and tight, and there is a black painted area across the bottom of the shield that fits in nice with the black on the fairing. I have to admit, I was very impressed with the way it changed the look of the bike nicely. A little disappointed at that point that my plan to add a tri-pocket shield bag will never happen (the vent sticks out in the middle) but think it was worth it.
At this point I am thinking all good! As it was late and I wasn't planning to ride, I got on the bike to put her back in the garage and noticed the view you get through the shield is somewhat distorted, not good. The shield is aerodynamically shaped and through this shaping, you get distortion at the top and the sides. Not a good thing when you look through the shield at times to ride. So unfortunately for me, three weeks pass before I can get a ride in with some other issues going on. Did about three hours yesterday with the shield and my results are as follows:
The Good:
Helmet buffeting is gone. The lip does an amazing job of pushing the air up and over me. Side air flow also seems improved.
The vent works well and is easy to adjust. The vent has 5 positions, including closed. In the closed position, it still directs air up into holes at the top that direct air along the shield, acting as a defogger. When open, you can feel the airflow with your hand, we have not had the usual hot summer days here in NJ so I cannot say if it helps with cooling but you can feel a nice flow.
The Bad:
The distortion is very distracting, I am 6' and usually would look over and through the stock shield. I find myself now having to adjust each time, from clear view over and then distorted through it. This is my biggest qualm and may result in me selling the shield. I definitely would have rather chosen a clear shield vs the tinted one as it may help but still, the view is distracting.
The vent could use a removable and cleanable screen. Since purchasing the VV, I usually ride with my shield up on my FF helmet and the sunshield down as I do not expect anything to come through and hit my face. I think something in here like a screen would make me feel more protected in this area.
The return policy - you should be able to return it after you have removed the tape, you cannot really test it with it on and my issue directly relates to this (looking through the shield)
So given another choice, I would have spent that $200 on something else for the bike...

Re: Clearview Shields Review...
Sorry to say, that can be the problem with a shield you have to look through. Personally, I have never used that high a shield choosing instead to duck below the edge if need be.
Would it be possible to get it cut lower a little bit, or would that destroy the shields purpose? Sorry, not familiar with this one.

Re: Clearview Shields Review...
They should have had a statement on their site about it not being optically correct, which I would expect with the curve at the top. Your only choices now are to return it at a $40 cost, Sell it at a cost of whatever you might be able to get for it, or cut off the bottom and redrill the holes if the vent is high enough. You can use the chrome trim as a guide for the cut and holes.
Oh yeah, one other choice. Put an airhawk or other pad on the seat to raise you up above the shield.
Good Luck. Let me know if you want to ship it to me for $120.

Re: Clearview Shields Review...
Thanks for all the replies (and thanks to you David for making my laugh about it! - will keep you as first if I decide to sell)
I was a little upset as I researched this purchase for at least a month before hand, following the FAQ's and measuring, etc. before I purchased it. I don't mind plunking $200 on the bike but I think that is a lot for a shield. They had a whole section on 'looking through the shield' and nowhere did it mention the distortion.
Going to try it again this coming week and see if I can get used to it. Funny aside to the whole thing, I downloaded my GoPro footage from the last ride thinking it would be unusable due to the distortion (I have it mounted to the mirror stalk so it sees half in the shield and half out) and I was shocked to see the footage with the new shield has never been clearer lol too bad I don't drive from the camera view!

Re: Clearview Shields Review...
I also purchased a Clear View Large for my 2011 Voyager. Not being able to remove the clear protective covering meant you bought it? First shield they sent also had the major distortion. I sent it back the replace it and now I am very pleased with the shield. The 5 position vent work great, plenty of air flow on hot days. I was disappointed that they would send a distorted shield out. Does not say much for the Quality Control.... Cost me an extra $40.00 big ones..

Windshield height for Voyager test
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was a expensive test so I guess I should share it so others don't have to do the same thing.
I didn't like the height 18" of the original windshield. I am six foot with a long torso and I looked thru it. I ordered a 16" from Rifle and I was able to look over it and there was no buffeting, which I was worried about. The rifle was the same shape as the original and good quality. I then ordered a 14.25" recurved windshield from Clearview. It is the perfect height for me and no buffeting. The recurve Clearview has a little distortion if you look thru it but it doesn't really bother me. Also it has a black band up about 3 or 4" from the bottom of shield. I think I like the Clearview the best and that is the one I am going to use. fyi
