I decided to go ahead before spring and get the kit installed. The rear fan assembly looks cheesy to me.
Anyway! It makes the bike run north of the middle mark on the heat gauge. So! I took the the rea fan assembly off the bike, let it idle for a while to heat it up, and took off down the road.
The bike immediately started cooling down, and ran a little south of the middle mark. My only issue with the bike in the first place was the radiator fan kicking on and blowing hot air on my left leg. The KAMS KIT cured that, but I think the rear fan is more of an inhibitor on the heat issue than a cure.
In my opinion air flow around the back cylinder is better than that darn fan assembly blocking the air and holdin in the heat.

I would like to try that rear fan if you would be willing to part with it.

I'm gonna keep it for now, it's winter here (snow now) in case I'm wrong but, looking at it installed, and notin the amount of air the small fan moves, I just don't see it helping. I could be wrong, but we'll see. I also don't like the look it adds to that part of the bike.
My particular problem with the heat was when the original fan came on it would cook my left leg. That issue is gone, but the bike ran a little hotter on the gauge.

I took mine off of my 2012, because it looks so much cleaner without the KAMS installed. The 2012 was the first year that the Voyager 1700 came with the KAMS. All was good until the air temp got to the high 70's, and I was in stop and go traffic. Shortly there after the KAMS was mounted back on my Voyager 1700 and it will never be left off again.
So keep it, it really does work.
