dead thread
I injured my left wrist, but a few days ago I was able to pull the clutch for the first time. Once. Painfully.
Then the polar vortex blew in, even to New Mexico. Today got up to 6, and tonight will be -6. With a fresh 2" of squeaky-cold snow, it might be a tad early to give it a spin.

Well skiing is my passion -- the most fun you can have with your clothes on. But I can't even do that. So just shoot me.

Re: dead thread
We've been running in the -8 F to -17 F range, for a few weeks now. Supposed to hit positive double-digits, on Wednesday! Getting ready to break out the Hawaiian Shirts, and the Bermuda Shorts on Wednesday! It will feel downright balmy!
I've visited different parts of the world. I always come back to Minnesota. I had a week of training in Los Anegeles, CA, the week before Christmas, back in 1994. It was sunny, mostly clear skies, and in the low 80's, every... single... day... I hated it. I seriously found it monotonous. The roadways had a coating of grease on them, which was slippery to walk on, with rubber soled shoes. My Driver's Ed. classes came back to me: "It can be very slippery roads for the first 20-30 minutes after it rains, due to oil and grease on the road surfaces." Never experienced it, until California.
Worked a week in Phoenix, several years ago. Same greasy roads, but sitting outside, at night, on leather seats, in a restaurant, with nothing but blue skies overhead, no clouds, no worries about rain... That almost convinced us to move there. Even talked to locals, about the heat: "There are two months each year, that are pretty unbearable, but that's it!" Hmmm... Tempting. We also drove in rain, four days out of seven -- we were there for their entire year's worth of precipitation! Saw electronic road signs warning of slick road conditions... Still living in tropical SE Minnesota. Still loving the seasonal changes. Wouldn't mind a little of that 'Global Warming', however. Cheers!

We've been mostly all over the US too, but find we like NH. It definitely has a change of seasons, is reasonably affordable (no Sales or State Income tax), you can drive to the beach AND the mountains on the same day if you like, and S. NH isn't too bad snow and temp-wise in the winter normally.

Re: dead thread
I do not like this long, cold winter either, but that is nothing like the citrus farmers in Texas who lost their annual income from the severe cold freezing their crop
That will be reflected in the price and availability of fruit.
All we suffered last year with the lack of heat units to mature our corn, was much higher drying cost, but we still had a crop to sell.

When in HS (SW Ohio), I helped grandpa build the concrete pad for his drier, one of the first in the area I believe. Just be careful jumping into the shell corn -- you can sink pretty deep! (Glad I could reach the ladder rungs.)
His words still ring in my ears: "Don't you never become a farmer." Not so different from grandma's: "Be careful what you're good at 'cause you'll be doing it the rest of your life." (They apparently had been discussing the general topic.)
