Replacing missing photos

Post by triton28 »

So while looking for an old post of mine I noticed, again, that a lot of my posted photos were done in the Dark Ages using Tiny pic and are no longer viewable. Well enough is enough! What a ripoff that is IMO and more to the point more fool me to not realize how Tiny pic worked it's income flow.
So I was wondering if there was some procedure whereby I could "Re-introduce" or have some computer literate whiz install the photos into the old posts.
I don't want to rerun the posts and bore everyone to tears but I think it would be interesting for new members to see the inside of a cylinder head without tearing the motor out of the frame.
I suppose I could do single entries of post specific photos with reference to the original post title and date, for each of the posts which no longer have the photos.
Or i could rerun the topic in it's entirety and include as the "Last post" an ADDENDUM containing the photos for that specific topic.
Any thoughts on which way to restore the photos to their respective posts or perhaps suggest a method for reinserting the photos in situ?
Dave

Seems like a case-by-case call. But I think we can grant you immunity from prosecution for resurrecting old threads, to add the lost photos. Certainly annoying to get the "photo not available" message.

I don't think that editing your posts (to replace the images) changes it's date. It could be a lot of work, thus keeping a psychoschematic busy.

Well by now most will see I have started with the photos for an old cam chain tensioner post. I will go and do each post with missing photos one at a time and insert the missing photos. In time I hope all will forgive and forget the endless tedium of rereading my dry posts and the posts will fade into the board/bored background once again, waiting for that new owner to raise a question that perhaps these photos may help him/her get to an answer.
Psychoschematic, that's a riot Nails.
