Welcome,1953rick,to the AVA family
As you probably know, there is a wealth of free, friendly information just for the asking by this family.
By the way ,I like the color of your bike,as it is the same as my'99.

Rick, welcome to the AVA! $600 is an awesome price - I paid $800 for Gertrude. It's been an adventure getting her in shape, but I've been riding the kronk out of her since the day I got her - 20,000 miles in a year and half. Watch for DSPO stuff, like missing frame bolts, bad electrical work, and the like. Seafoam in the gas will do wonders for the carbs (I still haven't rebuilt mine, they're getting better by the tankful). Make sure you drain the carb bowls regularly. I'm not going to go into everything to look for. Nails recently posted a most excellent post, that he made a sticky of, detailing the main things to look for and deal with.1953rick wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 7:52 pm I'm Rick Getting rid of my 91goldwing to heavy I'm getting old Going to get voyager. You're going to love your bike. As comfortable as a 'wing, lighter, better handling, faster, and just as reliable.

Re: New to A V A
Hello there Rick. I too had a GL1500 for 25+ years and I can tell you these are a much different animal. They are actually less than 100 lbs lighter than the 1500 according to the spec sheets, but the balance and center of gravity makes them feel way lighter. Shorter coupled makes them far more maneuverable and nimble. When things are all in order on these they are quite quick for a touring bike. I have had mine for a little over a month and absolutely love it. I have found only one thing I preferred the wing over, (saddle). I have said it before ..... these are a hidden gem in the motorcycle world. Read the sticky post about new owners and do the reccomended maintenance on it as soon as possible. These bikes are probably the most underrated machines ever. They are excellent rides. There is a wealth of knowledge on this forum. Read and learn as much as you can, it will help you in the long run. The members here are awesome people who are always more than happy to help out with whatever question you may have.
