scracthy noise

Post by buzzcut »

Hi all. Bike is running really well. question is in 3rd gear at 2200 rpm ( 50 kmh or 30 mph) there is a cyclic scratchy noise. Just wondering if anyone else has heard it...I suspect it is harmonics and the fact that the bike is super quiet but I can't help thinking its a chain noise . It goes away at 60 kmh. it only happens in third and at that rpm. It pulses around 2-3 times a second. I am thinking of pulling the tensioner out and re and re...

any thoughts? thanks

Hi,buzzcut,if the sound does not happen at the same RPM in 1,2,4,and 5th,I doubt very much if it is a problem with the timing chain tensioner. :hmm:
It could very well be harmonics between engine and tire noise coming together at those speeds. :thk:
