Is this the correct clutch kit

Post by hwyman »

I am going to have my clutch replaced this winter and it is not available from the dealer so I found the one below online and would like to know if anyone has used it or if there is a better option

Hello, hwyman, are you sure you need it replaced? :hmm:
I opened my clutch up at 77,000 miles and the discs were still at factory specs,so I put it back together.I was tying to find the source of a rattle, turned out to be a lose nut holding the alternator drive hub on :wnk2:
Any way, bike bandit shows the friction discs 13088, at $14.68 the sperators 13089,[which rarely go bad at $11],the star springs 39130,at $9.18 and the service springs,92081 at $6.96.
It seems everything should be available from your dealer.
Thai is assuming you are talking about a 1200 Voyager. :thk:

Reasonably sure. Did the clean the small hole in the M/C and flush the system and the clutch still does not engage when I release the lever in gear.
When I called the kawasaki dealer closest to work and asked about the clutch for an 87 ZG 1200 voyager I was put on hold for several minutes and was “I can not find anything in the computer, so it isn’t available you are going to have to look online”. I guess I can try calling the dealer closest to the house and see if I get a different answer.

Look at any of the online supplier "Clutch" diagrams and look for part # 92026-1263. This is a plastic spacer which the slave cylinder mounts against. If it is missing the clutch will always be partially/fully disengaged.
I don't know if this is your problem but I have seen it cause those symptoms on some bikes,
Dave

Found the spacer on amazon. Should have it next monday

I also attempted to PM Don about tue SS braided clutch line that he makes but not sure if it went thru. I am going to wait a couple days and if I do not hear back from him I will try again

Travis,
I saw elsewhere you needed a shop manual. Do you have one now? They are available as a free download. Have you verified that your clutch slave cylinder is working properly? My '87 clutch is original and works fine with no slip and that's with 77,000 miles on it. It's been running on mobil-1 for 20 years with no issues. I must be the only person having success with synthetic oil, as everyone here will tell you don't do it. :corn: Also since you have an '86, have you verified the ignitor was upgraded? I upgraded mine and my starter chain still ended up failing 10,000 miles later.

Hi,Barry.I have been using Shell Rotella T-6 5W-40 in my '99 since I bought it 12 years ago with 22,000 miles on it.It now has 99,250,and I have found no problems using synthetic yet.

Who says not to use synthetic oil? Must have us confused with another forum. T-6 full synthetic 10W-40 is all Gertrude ever gets.

Travis,
It looks like I may have hijacked your original thread. Sorry about that. There's plenty of other threads here about types of oil. I hope you're able to get your clutch issues resolved.
