Speedometer Cable
My speedometer cable went bad and the last twi I installed broke after 6 miles. I don't know what could be wrong. Any ideas?

Re: Speedometer Cable
First (and last) speedo cable (both cable/wire and casing) I changed on my XII was purchased from Carl Leo who advised that I soak it in a small tub of old (or new) oil so it was completely filled internally. Drain the oil for a few seconds and install. This gives great protection from water damage (a.k.a. rust) that can occur with tires throwing rain onto/into the lower housing unit. The change was about 11 years ago and it's been fine (knock on wood) ever since!
My advice, get a new cable - soak it in oil prior to installation. periodically remove & reinstall the lower connection and drain any water that may have collected if riding in wet conditions.
