Progressive spring orientation
Im installing progressive springs in front forks . First timer. The instructions say they can go in either way. What way is better tight spring down or up? And if im doing total rebuild bushing and oil seals can i use brakeleen on the inside when its totally apart? Thanks for the help

Re: Progressive spring orientation
Orientation doesn't matter, however, make sure both springs are oriented the same way.
Brakeclean is only safe for metal -- never apply it to rubber. It should be safe for some plastics, but I can't say which types. Cheers!

Re: Progressive spring orientation
Tight windings down otherwise they may rattle. Low odor mineral spirits to clean it out works good and won’t harm the seals.

Re: Progressive spring orientation
Conventional wisdom has springs typically installed with the 'tighter' wound coils at the top of the fork in order to reduce the amount of 'un-sprung weight' at the wheel. My guess is in practice it doesn't really make a huge difference either way, especially on such a heavy bike (and probably why Progressive suggests either way). In any case, I guess every little bit helps so I always install them tighter coils up.

Re: Progressive spring orientation
If you haven't done so, read through this on the Voyagers XII tech section on the front spring replacement https://www.amervoyassoc.org/techtipsXI ... %20Springs and if you have great.
