Superbrace interchangebility
Is the SuperBrace interchangeable between the '86 and all other years? The '86 has the smaller front forks, so that got me to wondering.....

Re: Superbrace interchangebility
The only different dimensions between 1986 fork tubes and post 1986 fork tubes are interior dimensions. The tube walls were made thicker in 1987 models onward and this thickness was added to the interior of the tubes used in 1986 models. All the exterior dimensions such as OD of the tubes, front fender brace mounting hole separations, and fork seal IDs/ODs are the same.
As such, the 1986 FORKS are not any smaller, the TUBES are thinner and the internals are sized to this wall thickness which is why 1986 springs won't fit into 1987 and later fork tubes; they are too large a diameter.

Re: Superbrace interchangebility
AH, that's a much more in-depth explanation of the difference. Thanks!
