Wiring routing?

Post by tnpete »

Anyone have something showing where all the wires should run? I have them back on the bike. Everything is bolted back on. But the harness down both sides of the bike. I'm sure are not in the right spots.
I did take a lot of pics when removing all this. But then my cell phone with the pics passed away. And Stupid me had not saved them to my laptop. Thinking the phone was good enough.

Also thinking I will rewire the trailer plug also. Not liking the jacked up job the other person did. It has a 4 round plug. Then a 2 wire plug to go along with that one. :-( Thinking the 2 by there self. Go to the turn lights, but have not traced them down yet. Figured i would just rewire the trailer also. Make it all match where it would work with a 5 to 4 convertor. Rather then this rats nest now. :tho:

Hi, If you take a look at the manual on page P1-13 you will find a general view of the way the Harness is fitted.
I’ve just refitted the harness to my bike. I also replaced as many connectors as possible with waterproof ones.
Make sure all the ground points are clean. Even if they look clean, use ‘Emery cloth’ on them.
What I found useful was to get a very large print of the wiring diagram.
Also make sure the thermostat housing has an earth wire going to it. If not, just make one up. I never understand why Kawasaki never fitted one as standard. Your Temp gauge shouldn’t have any problems afterwards.
Now regards to trailer wiring I just did inline splicing, soldered & heat shrink tubing for each wire. Just take your time. We have a different type Trailer connector & wiring over here in the UK. I can’t help you there.
So I hope this little bit of info is of some use. Good luck

Thanks page 13 is what I went by. But it leaves a lot to guess work. I did redo all the grounds. Cleaned each one, and then sprayed them with battery post spray. Each plug got taken care of with grease also.
