Re: bike just died
The kill switch seems to be working. I turn it off and it doesn't crank at all. When I turn it on it just turns over. After a bit of cranking for a second it acts like it will start but then dies

Re: bike just died
Went back to bike today. After spraying down all my connecters with Wd40. A few days ago and bike fired right up. Guess my connecters were really corroded. Thank you everyone that responded back to help me with the bike.

Re: bike just died
Have you pulled the left side upper fairing and unplugged the big white connector with lots of wires? It's forward of the relays under the false tank cover. This connector causes many, many problems.

Do you have a factory shop manual? You can download one for free from elsewhere on this site. Also available on the Kawasaki Voyager 1200 facebook page.

Re: bike just died
You're probably right. But it's easy to convince oneself that a problem must be this or that. I suggest determining once and for all that it really does not have a spark. Pull all the plugs, then hook one up grounded so you can see the spark. In a dark place, note the spark color.
Data trumps opinions every time. And it's plenty frustrating to look upstream of some particular problem, but then to not find the source. Like when that wasn't the actual problem in the first place.
Apologies if you already know all this. For all I know, you're a better mechanic than I (which honestly isn't saying much).

Re: bike just died
Good evening, just curious if the cause was found because i’m Having the crank all day, no spark, and no spark grounded against the block. It ran amazing before winter, for 97873.6 miles. Ideas please.

Re: bike just died
Follow the wiring from the pulsing coil up the RH frame leg and check the plastic connector for corrosion of the brass terminals.

Re: bike just died
Have you ever had the left side fairing off and looked at the big electrical connector with tons of wires in it? It would be located inboard of the left lower vent. Many times this connector provides lots of weird problems. It is very prone to corrosion issues. Next would be the wiring harness leading up to the ignition switch. Hope you have a nice place to wrench on this.Jeff Gordon wrote: ↑Fri Mar 19, 2021 12:24 am Good evening, just curious if the cause was found because i’m Having the crank all day, no spark, and no spark grounded against the block. Re: bike just died
could also be the sidestand switch malfunctioning. Jump the 2 wires together which go to it and try that.

Re: bike just died
Good morning, and thank you for the responses,. I will try to trick the side stand switch....I jammed a screw driver in the number one plug and cranked it over in complete darkness, but no spark. Will it still turn over if the side stand switch has crapped out? I have pulled the big plastic connector apart in the past, but that was because I was getting nothing...no power at all. Currently mine will crank until the battery dies......and the fuel pump is working,,,,,zi’ve drained the bowls twice and nothing but clean fuel.....could this be a bad coil?

Re: bike just died
Hi,Jeff,I wonder if your ignition switch harness has broken the wire that feeds the ignition circuit?
That is a short harness that goes around the steering head, and is often tied too tight to the frame from the factory, that it fails because it flexes whenever you turn the handlebars.
When I bought my '99 in 2009,it had already had 2 splices in it,and continued to fail, until I had all new wires installed, and has never given me any more trouble, but I left it loose when I reinstalled it.
Do a search for[ignition switch harness] on this sight, and you should be able to find the repair listed, the problem usually happens long before yours did,if that is your problem.
You ask if it could be a coil, since there are 2 coils,I doubt both failed the same time
Let us know what you find. You might be able to wiggle the wiring harness going to your switch as you crank it to see if you get spark.

Re: bike just died
If the bike doesn't fire and you got no spark, then that sure sounds like the problem. But I doubt it's the coil because you have two of them, so it should still hit on half the cylinders. I'd have to look at the schematic to find something in common to both coils. You might check other plug wires. And be sure how you're checking. The best way I know is to put a good sparkplug in the wire, clamp a good ground to the plug's threads, dim the house lights, and crank it. I'd remove all plugs so it cranks easy. Look for a blue spark.
If you really have no spark from either coil, then I think your problem is upstream of the coils. I don't think you've completely eliminated that notorious connector; and the schematic should give you an idea of which connections to scrutinize.

Re: bike just died
I had a similar problem with a 1300 some years back and it turned out to be a relay
