Kuryakyn ISO grips
Is anyone using Kuryakyn ISO grips on their Voyager XII?
I am wanting to put them on my '96, but none are listed as specific to the Voyager XII.
If anyone has them on theirs, I would greatly appreciate the Kuryakyn part number.
Thanks

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
Can't speak to the Kuryakyn ISO grips, but we had some inexpensive foamies installed on our bike, around 10-11 years ago, right after we got it. Had the professional mechanic install them, as I wasn't certain how to deal with the end-bar weights... He removed them.
We've put more than 20,000 miles on the bike since the new foamies were installed. Have not had hand numbing, nor have we noticed any severe vibrations (actually less than before, with the OEM grips, and the end weights!).
The only real requirement is that you get grips of the proper ID and length to fit the bars. Others may chime in, but I just wanted to share our experiences. The OEM grips were, IMO, very poor, even with the weights to reduce the vibrations. Foam grips allow you to move your fingers/hands a bit, tightening/loosening your grip, as needed; they seem to absorb, or isolate, your hands from 90%+ of the vibrations in the bars, in my experience.
I switched to foamies on our 1979 Honda 750, and we both loved them! We had hand numbing issues on that bike, with its OEM grips. The inexpensive foamies were a nice style upgrade, but they were a superb quality upgrade, which sold us on foamie grips. Rode that bike, two up, around Lake Superior, in 2009. Would have been horrible, with the OEM grips, and the numbing vibrations... I imagine we would have had issues with our Voyager, as well, if we had not switched out the OEM grips. We typically ride 120 miles, per short trip, even on weekend rides; we try to get in some 500+ mile trips each Summer. Foamies are our friends. YMMV. Cheers!

.... + 1 .... used the foamies for years, like the larger grip also....
Take your impact driver and the weights come right off...
lot of soap and the foamies slip right on... put the weights
back on... few minutes. And you can buy the foamies in
bulk almost anywhere... JM2C

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
I didn't know what ISO grips were so looked them up. I put a set of these on Trisha's Gold Wing trike, I believed the hype I read in the AD. Short story, Trisha disliked them from the day she first rode with them until the day I removed them.
Me I've been using the Grab-on open foam grips on both my 1200 and now on my 1700.

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
Score another point for the foamies. I am a larger gentleman, and the stock grips were just too scrawny for my big hands. However, it wasn't until I put the heated grips on, which are even thinner than the stockers, that I installed the foamies. I use foam on my touring bicycle, too. My only possible complaint is that they insulate a little too well and I don't get the full heat from the grips. But.... Spring is Here!!! I've already put almost 1000 miles on her since the snow melted.

Ok, what are foamies? Do they slip over grips?

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
Foamies are a motorcycle grip made out of open cell foam. They typically require the same application techniques as regular grips: wrap masking tape around the handlebar pipes, or use Grip Glue. They are very inexpensive, easy to use, and they are soft, and great at cushioning the hands while gripping the handlebars. Cheers!

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
Here are two pictures of my grips. 1. Is new throttle grip. 2. Is left side on my Voyager, it's 2 plus years old and 40,000 miles of use. I started using this brand 1980 on my XT500 yamaha.

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
Those are just like the ones I had on my LTD 550 a hundred years ago. What I have now are foam sleeves that slip on over the heated grips.

Re: Kuryakyn ISO grips
On both my 1200 and 1700 I use a heating element that goes on the left side of the handle bar. On the right side it attaches to the throttle tube, then I slide my grips of choice over them. The heating element is still working on my old 1200. I gave it to my son 9 years ago.
