I have a pile of nuts and bolts and now that I am doing more work on my bike I am always looking for just the right bolt. I asked the local hardware store if they could get me one of those panels where you can check the size of just about any nut or bolt and they said that theirs was given to them by a fastener distributer and they had no clue what they were even called.
I found them online and they were manufactured by S&W Manufacturing. It is 39 inches long and about 3 inches wide and is made from some kind of plastic or nylon.
I found them on sale for $41 from Travers Tool Company called the S&W WALL MOUNTED THREAD CHECKER SWTC-WM1 and the shipping was about $10 UPS. http://www.travers.com/
This part is for checking bolts and the next part for checking nuts.
There is also a length ruler in metric and inches as well as a diameter checker for the screws and bolts that are like #6-32 (not shown in my pictures)

Re: Cool Tool - Thread Checker
Very cool. I always let the ACE guy find the right fastener for me and have always commented how I'd like to have one of those "thread checker" things in my shop.
