Side Bag/Trunk repair.
I recently was riding down the Highway when the cover of my left side bag came off. A triangular chunk is now missing from the rim. Has anyone had to repaire their trunk or side bags and if so how did you do it. I have thought about using some of the apoxy puddy but I am a little timid. Any suggestions would be helpful.

The plastic on the Voyager is ABS. You can get some Plastifix http://www.urethanesupply.com/plastifixhowto.php from these folks and repair the broken plastic. I repaired the right front fairing on my bike using a piece of fairing from one of Leo's (voyagerparts@bellsouth.net) parts bikes and the Plasti-fix. Send Leo a picture of the damaged area on your bike and see if he has a bag lid that is damaged in another area and have him send you the section of the lid you need. With some cutting, grinding, fitting, sanding and painting you can repair the bag and no one will notice it has been damaged.

I haven't check lately, but there was a product called Mar-Glass (not sure of spelling, but that is how we pronounced it). This stuff worked like Bondo, but is 10 times stronger. My buddies build custom fender flares on their vehicles out of this stuff and sheet metal, and it held up.
Did you have the lids locked? Everytime I read one of these threads, I tell myself I need to add the tether to the lid.
