Does anyone know how many watts the clarion stereo puts out on a 99? I'm replacing the speakers and want to get the right ones. Also, is there a clarion/Kawasaki replacement stereo with cd player? If there is, where would you find one? Thanks a bunch!

Re: Stereo
There is not a replacement for this bike. There are people on this board and ABBIKEBOARD that do the work on this stereo to have an MP3 player setup.

Re: Stereo
If you can get the radio repaired, that is way better than trying to replace it with something else. Also, a CD player does not do well on a motorcycle. Possibly if you have a remote load type (multichanger) and mounted that is the trunk it might work. However, replacing with a standard marine or car radio you will lose several intercom and passenger functions.
I have replaced my radio. It IS an alternative. Again, you DO lose some functionality. There are also cosmetics to be aware of as a standard size radio does not fit side to side and you will have two holes to fill with something.

Re: Stereo
I talked with tas electronic's and Im saving for a rockford fosgate R300-4 amp and 2 set of rockford fosgate p-142 4"speakers. Cost around $175. Im also thinking about changing my rear speakers and boxs to 5" or 6". Or i might add one bigger speaker or small woofer. From what i can tell the voyager has alot of highs and not any lows. Also not load enough for my 1980's rock-n-roll. I dont want to put alot of money out to take care of this. maybe $250. I thought about the gap by the seat and rear tote for a woffer but my wife said it better not thump her in the back. I know on my 1985 wing i just changed the speakers with fosgate punch speakers and it did not make a differance at all. I f you want better sound with deeper low and a little loader set up you need at least 300 more watts and a bigger speaker. as far as a cd player i will keep the stock radio and my helmet speaker set up. I have a fm mp3 thats all one unit and plugs into a 12v outlet that works great. just down load cd onto that. however i am looking into that bluetooth mp3 set up. Any idea's for bigger speaker box's and speakers that will mount in the same spot as my rear box's.

1st thing that just came to my mind is "poor little alternator" it has a hard enough time keeping up with what's on it now. Add amps and subwoffers and she will be screaming. Just a thought.

Re: Stereo
An old style analog amp will draw a lot. A new digital 300w amp should draw very little.

12 volts 300 watts = 25 amps

Re: Stereo
Approximate output from the power amp to the speakers is 10 Watts per channel into 4 ohm loads. The headset output is .5 per channel into 16 ohm loads.
At full tilt, the radio draws 1.2 amps and the power amp draws 5 amps..
Of course, there is a limit to the amount of bass from a 4" speaker with the back open to the atmosphere directly. Of you can build a resonance box for them, that would help of course.. Same goes for the rear speakers. A sub woofer will help of course..
What you MAY want to try is a faux rear channel.. Using a larger speaker, you can put one side of the speaker to the +ve of the rear right and the other side of the speaker to the +ve on the left rear..
What you get is the difference between the two channels from the "center" speaker..
If this has a large enough resonance box, it may be just enough for your needs without putting more load on your alternator..
Cheers
