Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
price is up to 26 plus SH...might not be worth that much...I have one just missing that peg on the back..might do as you suggested by drilling a small hole and suing a chrome small bolt and wing nut..even wire would work...I don't take them off often..cheaper :)

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
Know what you mean Lonnie, sometimes the price is too high ,mine looks o-k ,no one would know, just that little screw through the cover into the plug, like i said if your missing the plastic plug part use a plastic push in fairing clip or a wall fixing plug to screw into, better than a wing nut, more discreet, anyway if i see another i'll let you know, good luck.Old Nyk.LonnieD wrote:price is up to 26 plus SH...might not be worth that much...I have one just missing that peg on the back..might do as you suggested by drilling a small hole and suing a chrome small bolt and wing nut..even wire would work...I don't take them off often..cheaper :)

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
Nyk, I found an English MC shop that sell those cover brand new..http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/5699 ... tor-Covers. They look just like yours..what year of bike did yours come off of? I searched their data base and our bike wasn't listed (most likely too old) any idea what year and such is the best fit?

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
Hello Lonnie, the one i got off E-Bay was only about £12.00 + Postage, don't know what year it was off,all you got to look for is the Size,it was just under 14x8 inches or 355mmx203,it is just a fraction short of the Rad Width on the Voyager but a little bigger than the Rad Depth which is good cause then you can bend the bottom of the Guard inward to fit snug and hold, got to be just right or it could float about in the Recess of the Radiator.Trick is to bend the bottom Brackets inward to create a Tight fit when putting the Guard in so it can't move back and forth. Also bending inward the bottom of the Guard at the correct angle so you just have to force it over the lip of the Radiator frame, then it can't jump out by moving upwards either.Hard to put into words what you do on site.Hope you can get the jist of what i am trying to say.I'll try and do some pic's of it from different angles and post them on here, keep watchin Mate. All the best from Old Nyk.LonnieD wrote:Nyk, I found an English MC shop that sell those cover brand new..http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo/5699 ... tor-Covers. Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
They sure are Lonnie, first time out on the Beauty i had to make sure it was facing straight ahead so paddled the Bike out of my Property with my Feet onto the road, pointed it in a straight line and away we went.Bit wobbly but oh MY how luvly eh !!.I need to practice, never ever ridden such a lovely Machine,it is so heavy .But what a thrill eh when you get going.Wish i had some of your Highways to ride on,i would pack the Panniers full and just go !,and do Bed and Breakfast on the way .Hope you have a nice day Lonnie, great to chat with you Mate.Old Nyk.LonnieD wrote:he he..I know you are just laughing with me not at me right :)...hows that bad bike of yours around the streets where you live? kinda narrow aren't they?

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
Geesh dude I know what you mean about a heavy bike...I first had a "banana" type seat...and it flet nice and I could move around more but realized I had trouble with stability on the right side (Leg is weak on that side) So I tried a normal seat much like yours, guess it's the stock seat...any way legs are long and seat isn't real comfortable but have better stability...grrr well have the trike kit on there so we'll see how either one works. Don't know...fall/winter around here has kicked in so might not get a lot of riding time in...need a bunch to feel comfortable riding it now that it has the large 14 wheels on the back :)

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
You like me Lonnie, put the bikes away for the winter, very sensible, mind you when we were younger we had to get to work on anything, anyhow eh did'nt bother about the winter weather, just keep yer feet out like ski's.having said that you could push the old bikes off yer if you dropped one,not these Beauties, probably need a crane to lift it off My Bike is in bits at the Mo Lonnie,i need an Impeller for the water pump,it's sheered away at the back so it won't grip the drive shaft, thought something was up.Overheating and Rad cool ?.No circulation of water through the pump, the thermostats o-k though, tested it in a pan of water on the stove.Bit of a time consuming job getting the front end off,and awkward for a 63 year old Cretin like me having to get on the floor in all positions to do it,yeukkk.Dread to think what the labour charges would be if i had to pay someone to do it.So Lonnie if you hear of an Impeller for sale please let me know and get some pic's up of the bike, all the best from Old Nyk.LonnieD wrote:Geesh dude I know what you mean about a heavy bike...I first had a "banana" type seat...and it flet nice and I could move around more but realized I had trouble with stability on the right side (Leg is weak on that side) So I tried a normal seat much like yours, guess it's the stock seat...any way legs are long and seat isn't real comfortable but have better stability...grrr well have the trike kit on there so we'll see how either one works. wow so sorry to hear about that mate...I read the yahoo kawsixes group sites and the other one I can't remember but will get you the site name...go there and ask. They have members in South Africa who I've spread where they have lots of new parts and such...have you tried Leo?...let me know if you still have trouble and I'll get you some numbers. In the tech reading folder for this site they have a listing for Leo who has tones of parts..

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
Most of the info you need has been posted in the other area "Need an Impeller".
My understanding is Carl is a wealth of knowledge and has lots of parts for the 1200's but every time I've called Carl for parts on my 1300 he tells me he only has 1200 parts.

Re: Rad Guard. Good Lookin Replacement.
Hello Lonnie, cheers mate,i don't give up easy, had some grief in the past working on my old Cars, still got one in my other Garage, had it since i was 21,it's a 1953 Lanchester 14 (LEDA),completely refurbed it over the years, some happy memories along with the old Beauty."Big Back Seat" and "Ankle Straps" if you catch my drift .Pic enclosed, got plenty of time for the Voyager.Winter project now this is ,got a nice warm Garage to spend time in on the Bikes, think i have located the stuff i need and hopefully get to watch that heating bar "Keep Left" on the dial eh !. I'll check out Leo,all the best mate,Old Nyk.
