Preparing the 1986 Voyager XII for painting. Paint code?

Tearing down the Voyager to refresh the tired original paint. It is a burgundy color. Any one know what the factory paint code is? any advice on prep/painting? I'm currently wet-sanding it all with 320grit in preparation for taking all the parts to the painter.

I believe you can find the colors at http://www.colorrite.com The red on the '01 and '02 bikes is the same color as the red on the '86.

There is a link in the Technical Section, but read the small print. It may not be exactly right. This may not be a problem if you're painting the whole bike, but it was for me. My replacement saddlebag has been in the paint shop for more than two weeks now, and I think we've finally got the colours right. The colours from the website were way off, and later scans not a lot better. There has been a lot of trial and error in the meantime. And now that we've got the colour right ----- the painter has come down with pneumonia!! I feel for him, 'cos I've been there and it's no fun, but it's been a long winter and I'm eager to ride.

Yes i'm doing a complete repaint and thinking about going solid one color not two-tone paint.

Debron, I've been looking at the "Team Green" paint that Chevyman1 did. Looks COOL! And my GF would love it bright Yellow, but i'm thinking something closer to the factory Luminus Vintage Red ive heard it called. not sure i can get the prep smooth enough not to leave a pinstripe shadow. I mentioned "Mac it out" (ALL black) and the GF gave me "the look"! so to keep the peace i'll not Mac!

go to a paint store and look at the hundred's of colors out there.
if you are going with red there is some nice pearl reds out there I had my 90 painted with 2010 Honda civic Tango red pearl .
But the Teem green is definitely more noticeable

Hard color to capture on the internet. I suggest you go to the dealer and check some bikes out.
