new darksider on the road

Post by bikermike »

Hi guys!!
I posted a while back that i had bought a Nexen C/T that i was going to put on myXII. i had the tire installed on the rim last week.. finally found some moly 60 grease at the local Honda dealership. I thourghly greased the drive splinesa and pulled the gear unit and greased the shaft splines also. I installed a new set of brake pads and reinstalled the rear wheel. It wasnt a bad job, just alot of bolts to get the rear back on the bike... I took it out today on it's maiden voyage.. about 30 miles. The 1st thing i noticed is that u dont have to force it into a turn, a lil body english and a gentle push and it glides right into the turn :).. It runs alot quieter than the worn EII that was on previously. The C/T soaked up the rough joints in the pavement way better than the bike tire ever did! Cornering seems very stable with 1 or 2 people on the bike. I did notice one thing, on rain grooves the frt tire semms to track the grooves and the C/t doesnt... not a bad thing .. but noticeable. I have a new E3 that i need to get mounted on the front, that may help that issue. I also have new prog front springs and seals to install this week. I figure i may as well just finish it all off so i ordered a set of Prog 412 hd shocks for the rear... the rear shocks have lost alot of its dampening.. wallows in the corners a bit too much for my liking. We are taking off around the 1st of Sept for a trip to Glacier Natl Park... hopefully it will be in tip top shape for the trip! Ride Safe ... Mike

You say that you feel like now you don't have to force it into a turn. The best way I can think of it is that it feels like it is on a rail now, do you agree? I've got about 1500 miles on it now and still love it, don't even cross my mind anymore, I just stick it in the turns and ride.

it just feels better, more solid...
I have shaved more metal off my pegs with the CT, then I ever did with the MC..

Glad to see you are enjoying your CT.. I will soon be hitting 10k on mine and I plan on giving a review with pictures of the tire before and after..
