Backrest/Trunk Extender

Post by Skibou »

Installed Utopia backrest. Me happy and comfortable. Installed Marvellas trunk extender. Passenger happy and comfortable. The only problem is the unsightly exposure of part of the frame, mudguard and a gaggle of wiring behind the passenger seat. The alarm I have attached to the front of the trunk below the passenger backrest does nothing to improve the looks.
My solution was to glue a strip of Velcro to the lip of the trunk lid directly below the passenger backrest, and attach the bag from the driver backrest to it. This covers the gap nicely, and provides concealment and weather protection for the alarm. Admittedly the bag cannot be accessed by the passenger in this position, but it is easily transferred from one location to the other as desired. In our case, since my wife does not use the bag, I have padded the bag up a little by inserting a piece of a swimming pool "noodle". This was an easy five minute job, and greatly improved the appearance.

Same approach, but one step fancier....got a small black leather pouch like what you see strapped to the forks of Harley/crusier type bikes...fits perfect and almost looks like its part of the seat....

I have found the rolled up bike cover in its draw-string baggie fits in there just perfect also. When we ditched the Corbin and went to a Russell on the stock seat pans, it left a gap. The rolled up bike cover fits great!

been trying to figure out a place to mount one of those small tube style subwoofers to add some punch. IYO, would there be space enough there to something like that? The joke is that it would be a back massager for my wife. :gig:
