Fork Protectors?

Post by stubabe »

Has anyone out there put fork protectors on their Voyager XII? I installed some on my Concours 10 several years ago but have been unable to locate a set that would work for my Voyager.

I found sets of seatbelt shoulder pads at walmart that were on closeout. For $6/pair I installed them (using tiewraps) on my Voyager and my wife's VN800a last fall. They are still working fine.
There is a person here in the ads that is selling a set that would probably fit better and hold up longer, but I haven't tried them yet.
Oh and, the ones I am using are black with an NFL team logo (being Phoenix they are the Cardinals). Probably seasonal and will depend on your location. I would not use the kind like sheepskin that they normally carry, mine are smooth nylon (i think).
Enjoy,
Ken

I have a set of neoprene fork protectors I got from my service shop several years ago. They velcro together. I used black wire ties at the bottoms to hold them in place as the movement of the forks when riding tended to push them up, exposing the most vulnerable area you're trying to protect! There is a seller selling them in the classified ads section of the AVA website, here. Here are what mine look like (on my first XII, before the wire ties):

Vern Peeler (Oregon) sells the same one that Ron is showing. I think he is who Ron is also refering to on this site. I just let mine float loose and they do a real good job.
