Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
I think the price is fairly reasonable! I was just offered 3700 for my 96 with 35000 mi and some fading color on a Gold wing at a Honda dealer.
I've always found that blue book doesn't mean anything when it comes to recreational vehicles.

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
I agree. I paid $4,800 for my 2001 that was in like new condition (paint and bike looks showroom) with 33,000 miles on it and everything working including electronics. This one has less miles. KBB lists 2004 at 41,050 miles as the oldest expected mileage for a tourer. A 2001 would be higher. When they say excellent condition I also believe that the $3.8k cost includes this average mileage wear and tear, which could be say 75k miles. Something with 22k miles is considerably less wear and tear (if true mileage and properly serviced during its life) and would be worth more.

Price sounds ok to me too. Just don't sell it to Kelly Blue Book. It is a "tool" used by dealers to get your trade in, I bet they don't sell by the book price.

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
Out of curiosity I just went to NADA for their value. Because their system isn't very smart, I came up with this:
AM/FM Radio-Cassette w/Speakers $70
Engine Guards (Chrome) $36
Cruise Control $25
Fairing-Full $133
Saddle Bags (Pair) $252
Travel Trunk w/Rack $40
Average
Retail $4,496
I used my zip code for the value, so the number may change in your area. This is good info to have on hand when a potential buyer tries to get you to lower your price. Hope this helps.

I just bought a 2003 with a corbin seat, chrome trim on the fairing and saddlebags, driving lights and brand new tires (dunlop 404) and 13,888 on the clock for $5500. It's a 9 out of 10. I'm happy!

Sweet, sounds to me like a good deal and nice bike. Now you have to get it set up to pull that camper of yours, maybe we could get a camp date set with others in central Pa area (any one that wants really regardless of where they're from)!Air Force wrote:I just bought a 2003 with a corbin seat, chrome trim on the fairing and saddlebags, driving lights and brand new tires (dunlop 404) and 13,888 on the clock for $5500. My late father was born and raised in the Altoona area: Cresson, PA. He also served and retired from the Air Force. You bring up an interesting reason to meet once I have a trailer for my Voyager XII.Scott-(Altoona, PA) wrote:Sweet, sounds to me like a good deal and nice bike. Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
Those are all standard items for that bike so you can't add them to the base value. You are counting that twice when you do that.Barry (WA State) wrote:Out of curiosity I just went to NADA for their value. Because their system isn't very smart, I came up with this:

A person can ask whatever they want for the bike they are selling. What someone is willing to pay will determine how long it takes the bike to sell. I let my '01 go in '11 for $4500. It had quite a bit of extras on it when I sold it. I was ready for it to go to a new home. Photo of the bike right before we loaded it on the new owners trailer.

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
I added those items to our '98 Voyager when we totaled it in 2009 and the insurance company accepted them and we were paid for the bike based on that value.

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
You were lucky to have an insurance adjuster who was clueless. LOL! I hope to never have to deal with the insurance company. Especially with what you went through.vxiirider wrote:I added those items to our '98 Voyager when we totaled it in 2009 and the insurance company accepted them and we were paid for the bike based on that value.

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
I've been to that NADA site....and with the exception of the speaker covers, and chrome trunk and saddlebag trim rails everything else listed is standard to the bike. I look at Kelly Blue Book or NADA or whatever as guides for pricing to sell. I may or may not get an offer of $5500.00 but I firmly believe the bike is worth the asking price. Those inline fours are a bullet proof engine, I'm convinced of that especially after talking to two different owners that both have over 250,000 miles on their 1987 Voyager's, without a major teardown, pretty darn good I'm thinking. These guys both do their own maintenance, which is pretty much routine maintenance with a minimum of servicing with good oil with a clean air cleaner element. I'm rambling, and I apologize, but the VII is an impressive machine.
No matter where you go....there you are

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
Please don't misinterpret my post as suggesting your asking price is too high. My point was that the valuation systems out there have trouble coming up with the fair market value of vxii's. In the end, they are worth whatever the seller & buyer decide. 3 years ago I had a guy offer me $6,000 for my 87. It isn't for sale. As equipped it is priceless to me. It will be a very sad day when it goes away. Hopefully that won't be for many more years. I'm sure there is a buyer out there for your bike. It's just a matter of finding him/her.

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
Agree with the above, When you are dealing with a insurance company or dealer of any kind they use a "Tool" to set price. But in buying or selling a XII . If you find a knowledgeable buyer that knows the XII and the XII is in excellant condition. If you set a reasonable price, no matter what it is, the buyer should be made aware that no where else could you get a MC anywhere close to what the XII has for that price. There is nothing out there new or used that you can buy for $3500.00 or $5000.00 that compares even close to the XII nowadays..

Re: 2001 Voyager for sale
I feel the same way about my 88, "Brutis" is a part of the family to me now, it has been as loyal as a old dog, out of the 5 bikes I own now, the 88 IS NOT FOR SALE. One of the things I like is you don't see 50 of them at a bike night and only a few of them at Daytona Bikefest, and the ones you do see, chances are you know the guy. When you are talking to someone about buying you bike, be sure to tell them about this and other sites and most important, tell them about Carl Leo, that alone should raise the value by $1000.00.Barry (WA State) wrote:Please don't misinterpret my post as suggesting your asking price is too high. Guess I got a deal on mine.........traded a pistol for it that I paid $575.00 for! I've had ALOT of cleaning to do and am still doing, and have put $500.00 into it, to get it "up to par". But all in all.......I'm very happy with it. Put 200-500 miles a week on her and she doesn't complain.
