Was looking at the two bikes and before tackling this, does anyone know if the stock shocks on the Vulcan 1700/ Voyager , Vaquero, Classic will bolt up without modifications to the Voyager XII. Just wondering if this might be a cheaper alternative to Progressives, with rear shocks becoming available from bikes being triked.

If you have a touch, welder, hammer and a little know how you can make anything fit anything.

I thought Kevin asked a serious question. You would think someone on this forum has a 1700 parked next to a XII that could answer? I'm curious too.

Re: Will Vulcan 1700 rear shocks bolt up on the Voyager XII?
The XII calls for 13 inch rear shocks and the Voyager 1700 calls for 14 inch shocks however the Progressive web page alludes to a Voyager lowering kit so anything is possible. Check it out at:

BTW in a post from over a month ago I made a mistake. Rather than look up the old post I will admit my mistake here. Bottom line is that I had confusion with the number twelve. The Progressive 412s come as a complete set whereas you must buy a separate spring (standard or heavy duty depending on your needs) if you buy the 12 series for an XII.
The 12 series we had were inexpensive, easy to mount and made for a nice ride however it was quite a pain to get the spring (sold separately) onto the shock.

Re: Will Vulcan 1700 rear shocks bolt up on the Voyager XII?
Having owned both versions (actually owned 7 XII's and only one 1700) and having this question go through my mind as I looked at the two parked next to each other in the garage and not having the patience to take the shocks off and try it , I was wondering if anyone has done this. The 1700 shocks are a lot nicer air shock than the ones on the Voyager XII. Wondering if anyone has attempted this. If not , I might do this and post pics...and yes anything can fit on anything if you have a welder and a torch. Been there done that.
