Handlebar question

Post by triton28 »

Hello;
I am new to the forums having just purchased a 1987 XII. So far so good but I haven't been able to determine the exact use for the weights located at the end of the handlebars. Mine doesn't have them and I was wondering why they are there from the factory.
Do they actually fulfill some function?
Thanks,

Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum!
The handlebar weights were put on the bikes to try to cut down on the vibration in the grips. Most Voy XII riders have replaced the grips which in most cases the weights can't be used. I have owned 3 Voyager XII and removed the weights on all of them. Can't really tell the difference.

Good luck with your 'new' bike :thmup:

Personally I like having mine. With the cruise on, I switch back and forth which hand is on the bar and with the right hand I hang onto the weight so as not to inhibit the cruise from doing it's thing. Oh, and welcome to the forum also from Phoenix.
