Stereo quit last weekend ...

Post by RoadSailor »

My Voyager XII Clarion stereo went silent last Sunday as I went down a hill with some minor bumps & road vibration...
The bike had been out in wet weather in recent days and may have had some moisture build-up inside (LCD display was not working properly for a couple of days prior)
I have checked all fuses in the main fuse box under the tank cowl - and they appear to be fine.
The LCD clock is still working but there is no cassette or radio function at all.

If anyone has any advice as to how I should proceed toward a diagnosis, I would greatly appreciate it...

Hey thanks Jim!

I just re-installed my battery after charging and have noticed that my clock is no longer functioning either... LCD is frozen in time.

I will try to contact Pete and see if it is worth trying to fix...
Perhaps an ipod plugged into my cardo intercom jack might be the best way to go.

Hi Tom, have you checked the two fuses behind the head light. Take the outside ring off the head light and then take out the headlight and find the fuses in behind the headlight. Best of luck and welcome to the forum........Gator Mike

Thanks Mike.
Pete suggested the same possibility.

I have since replaced the 3A main fuse (as you suggest) and it worked!

LCD display is still not working properly though ... I think things may have gotten wet.
I will monitor to see if it recovers. If not ... at least I still have tunes and radio.

Cheers & thanks for the helpful suggestions guys!

Just a note: if you lose sound volume and turning the volume way up you can just hear it, check the rear mute button (if you have the intercom rear controls).
Had that happen today. It had been awhile since last time it had happened, so took me a few minutes to figure it out.
Tunes are back.
Enjoy your ride and welcome,
Ken
