Engine dies when in gear and clutch released

Hello everyone My 92 voyager XII has run great all summer. Haven't been able to ride for the last 3 week and I started it last night idled great in N put it in gear and released the clutch and the engine dies. If the cycle is in neutral it will run with the clutch in or out but in gear it will only run with the clutch in. Thoughts?

Not sure if this is the issue but the kickstand has a "safety" switch to prevent you in riding the bike with the kickstand down. However, I can't remember if when the kickstand is down, it kills the engine when you put it in gear, or kills it when you release the clutch when it's in gear. (The PO bypassed the switch on my bike, and yes, I have taken off a couple times with the stand down! )

I believe the kickstand switch kills the engine when the clutch is released while in gear.

Yes check the kick stand wire maybe broke off on bottom will kill bike when clutch is let out

You can take both wires off the sidestand switch and wire them together to see if this cures the issue. If it does then the sidestand switch is messed up or one of the wires came loose.
