If your still in the market there's a NorCal Voyager Club member that lives in Kingman AZ that has a 1200 Voyager for sale. All of the information is in the October and November newsletters.

I think you'll find it in good condition.

Just keep looking and checking all areas, the AVA even has a Classified Ads section (link at top of screen) where folks both members and non will post ads. That in fact is how I got mine. A fellow a few hours away was going through a divorce and had more than one bike plus needed some cash. Win win the way I saw it.
Here's a link to a posting of a 2001 for sale, in Prescott AZ. might be close enough to look into. :hmm:

Bought a 2002 Voyager this year from a BMW dealer, $3700. Had 67,000 miles on the odometer, but in good overall condition. Only thing it needs is a carb overhaul that will happen this winter, not bad enough to keep me riding this summer. Even a 30 day warranty. Every dealer is different. In this case it had set there for awhile. They wanted it out.

I have had very good luck with Kawasaki motorcycles. My Nomad has been the most durable reliable motorcycle that I have ever owned.

I am sure you will enjoy it and Tom is a straight up kind of guy, so I am sure the bike is worth getting at that price (better price than I paid for mine). Wish I could afford to get it as a backup to the '01 I ride.

I have seen Tom's bike, very nice!! :bravo:

"I am sure you will enjoy it and Tom is a straight up kind of guy"

Not so straight up after all. Tom promised me first shot at buying his Voyager. Instead of waiting for me to come look at his bike like he promised he would, he sold it out from under me last week. He claimed that when he called me on the phone last Saturday I sounded uncertain about it. Of course that was untrue as I had assured him I had the cash to pay for it and I told him when I would be up to see the bike.

But he decided to sell it to some other guy--a "local" without letting me know about it first. Apparently he was already talking to this guy while keeping me on the hook as well.

I understand that a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush, but I also expect a man to keep his word when he gives it. That didn't happen.

I'll keep looking.

On a positive note, after the first of the year is a great time to buy a bike. Prices are lower in the winter months when riding is at a standstill for most of the country. I found my bike in December and bought it in January on Craigslist. I did buy from a dealer but got a good deal on it because we communicated by email and phone the whole time negotiations were going on. I had him send pictures and got honest answers to specific questions. I also didn't make any payments until I actually saw and rode the bike. That's just what you have to do to protect yourself. After all these bikes are long out of warranty. At the same time I was negotiating with this dealer in Texas I was checking on two bikes at a dealership in Arkansas. I immediately saw that the Arkansas dealer was not being honest about the bikes, they would not send me info and it took 3 emails to get them to admit that the first bike, a 99 Green one had over a hundred thousand miles that they were trying to pass off to me as low mileage for over 6 grand. Avoid these kinds of dealers like the plague. If at all possible try to stay within a reasonable distance from the seller, check it out personally, don't take anybody's word that is was a well cared for machine. Once they have your money the deal is done.

Here is a Voyager 1200 from a NorCal Voyagers Club member. Jim was also our newsletter editor for many years.

Jim Tinlin contact email jim@tinlin.net

I am going to be selling my 2000 Kawasaki Voyager ZG1200. It’s in pretty good shape and perfect for anyone that is interested in getting started in touring. I’ve clocked just over 60K on it and just don’t ride it as often as I should (I’m charging the battery at home more than on the road). I’ve got tons of accessories/ upgrades (superbrace, new fork springs, pads, Marvellas hitch, etc) and would like to get close to $3K for it, but I would be willing to work with a new owner. I can deliver within about 150 mile radius from Kingman, AZ.
