Voyager XII Engine Removal

Is there a way to disconnect the propellor shaft in order to remove engine without removing the swing arm?

Not an easy way. There is a spring between the driveshaft and the final drive that pushes the driveshaft forward against the bevel drive to keep the front shaft yoke square. You'll be fighting that spring during the following: there is a small pin lock on the front yoke that you should be able to get to through or around the bellows that is between the bevel unit and the swingarm. You will need to push that pin in, in order to release the front of the shaft from the bevel. Do not loose that pin. When you pull the shaft away from the bevel unit, the little spring behind that pin will launch it into never never land if you aren't careful.

I would think the issue would be with the installation of the engine. Fighting that spring and having to line everything up would probably make me remove the final drive and then disconnect the shaft from the back of the engine/trans before engine removal.

Having removed and reinstalled my engine last year I agree with Chris. It would be extremely difficult if not impossible. I do suggest taking a lot of pictures as you take it apart. I found it helped alot for routing of wiring and such. Best of luck with your project........Gator Mike

My father-in-law was an auto mechanic for 40 years. He always said an auto engineer should be required to work on cars for two years before he could design cars. Bet they would be easy to work on after that. ........Gator Mike
