Today I installed a combo 12V cigarette plug/USB port accessory. I wired the negative to the frame and the positive to an extra fuse block, hot. My intent was to power my ipod. I succeeded in powering the ipod, and also succeeded in introducing alternator whine into the audio (helmet speakers) that was not there before when the ipod powered itself. The whine rises and lowers according to engine rpm. Has anyone experienced an alternator whine in any audio accessory and if so, what was your solution to eliminate it? Any suggestions are appreciated.

Contact Pete, he may have a solution of just adding a capacitor across the I pod power feed.
So your saying if you disconnect your I pod power the 'whine ' goes away ?
