You don't need to replace the fender there is a metal insert that you can replace one on each side.
I think I have one on a broken fender I have.
If there still in the fender You can have one, I will check, PM me with your address

Update:

I had put the 01 on the back burner. After our wonderful Kanab trip from hell that wouldn't end last summer on the '90, I took the '01 to my brothers house and left it. It was wonderful not having to deal with it, LOL. I knew my next course of action would be to either part it out, put a different frame under it (and hope that would fix it) or find someone to check the current frame (and hope that would fix it). When Carl sold the farm, I brought back a couple frames in possible anticipation of a swap. I brought it back home about 2 months ago, and my brother even mentioned how bad it was. He'd only ridden it once or twice and hasn't really put any significant miles on any motorcycle since the trip to Santa Fe in '09.

I did a search and came up with a motorcycle shop in KC called Cafe Racer and decided to start with them. Went down and talked to the guy and told him my problem and everything we'd done to try and solve the issue. I asked him if his shop did any frame work, or if he knew of anyone. He gave me the name of a shop in Topeka. Went down and talked to them last Saturday and he said he didn't think it'd be a problem to set it up and check it out. Sooooo..........

This was yesterday. Guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.

"It wiggles, not quite like a weave, but a nervousness that can only be described as riding on ice".

A few years ago this described how my 2001 handled on a dry straight road. On a wet road, it was frightening to ride.
I also checked the front end and had a dealer check it and we both agreed the bearing seemed okay.
After adjusting the steering head bearings and replacing the tires, I finally replaced the steering head bearings and the problem went away. There were small ridges in the race that caused the problem.

Good luck.

Short answer, no. Long answer....... When I talked to the guy(s) they talked like the first of August would be when they might be able to get on it. I had not heard from them as of 3 weeks ago, so I called them. The bike is on the table, but he hasn't had a chance to check anything. They got hammered with lots of bikes coming in, and they can't turn down the gravy work, so.....here we are. They know I'm not in a hurry. Seems like the 2 projects I've got going right now, the Voyager and some hotrod pieces at my work's bodyshop have both taken waaaaaay longer than anticipated. Had to jump on the bodyshop manager to get some action. Last thing I need is the hotrod stuff AND that Voyager coming home at the same time. I had sort of hoped of maybe getting the Voyager issue sorted and back together and sold before winter hits. Doesn't look like that's going to happen.

Hey Chris

Any news yet? I ask because mine has started to wander. It started after new tires though. Put E3s front and back. The back 2 months before the front. Anyone ever said E3s made their bike wander? Thanks dan

No new update. Probably should call in the next few days to check on it. Been busy with other garage stuff. I'll let you know when I know something. Mr. Jensee, I hope it doesn't come to that, but if it does, you're on the list.

Small update.

Called the shop yesterday. They have checked the front end and verified that it is straight and true with the head/steering tube. Next step is they are going to gauge the frame from front to back to see if the wheels are inline or not. They have another bike waiting for frame work, and they don't want to take mine off until they figure it out. So hopefully that'll light a fire to get mine done.

Hoping the best for you Chris.
As to wondering with E3's, not my experience. Just put 2 on a few weeks ago and it's like a new bike. The old ones (over 22kmiles) were getting pretty cupped on the back so straight was ok, but any curves were like rain grooves, just felt squirrely, so kept the speeds down till the change.
Fighting a cold, so rode last week twice to work, but as we are having a cold snap (with this cold in me) of low 50s, I haven't pushed it the last few days, but will be back on it by mid week next.
Should i put this up. :tong: Maybe I shouldn't (just in fun - don't hate me just cuz I can ride year round). :LAngel

Thanks! I'm pretty sure at this point if you still have wandering problems it is most likely caused by that chrome piece. Remove it and send it to me for further evaluation! :gig:

It's called a dramatic pause for effect. Or a "cliffhanger" if you will.

But yes. They called today. They claim it's fixed. They said the front and rear wheels were not running on the same track. The back half or rear section of the frame was bent or welded wrong or otherwise not right. They weren't sure why or how, but that it just was. Some pushing/pulling and they got it straightened out. I may be able to bring it home on Monday, but will have to check with them at the end of this week. They seemed ready for it to be gone.

I had been hoping for this exact phone call. I had a feeling that issue would be an alignment problem, but had no way to easily check and fix. Was dreading a "no problem found" diagnosis, but had come to grips looooong ago if that was to be the answer. I won't know for sure til it's all back together and road tested, but it was the phone call I needed to hear. Good news has been in very short supply around here lately.

May have to watch some of my own videos to see how it all goes back together. :wnk2:

I would like to have this as an article in the Voyagers Voice make it a two part article. I hope to see you riding this repaired Voyager in Asheville, NC.

Once it's back together AND I've verified that it is indeed fixed, I'd be happy to whip something up for you.

Pam will be unable to go. There are other, private type things going on too. But I hope to be there. One thing I can say for sure, is if I make it to Asheville, that there is not a snowball's chance in Hell, that I will be on that bike, LOL.

We got over 10" of snow last week on Tuesday/Wednesday and today was the first day above freezing since. Supposed to be in the 50's the next 3 days or so. I might be able to do a test ride by Sunday. We'll see.

Took it for a 20-30 minute spin on Saturday. Bike does not seem to be any better. I'm going to finish retrofitting the '90 for Moonshine. I'll leave the '01 together for now, but I think I may try another frame once spring gets here. Not really worried about it at this point.
