I can't find it! Tip-over bar brace thread.
I know I read a thread about this somewhere, I have searched and searched but apparently I'm using the wrong terms. I want to find the thread that dealt with installing a bar, some said towel bar, some said water pipe, between the tip over bars on the front of the engine. Anyone point me in the right direction please?

What I have found helpful is to bookmark the topic, and then it is in your user control panel under manage bookmarks. I use that because I will forget what the post was called etc..

Re: I can't find it! Tip-over bar brace thread.
Thanks Pete, that is my ultimate goal but I have been unable to find one. Apparently no one makes an aftermarket bar that goes in the same place. If someone does please point me to them. In looking at my bike I determined that someone had already tipped the bike over as the "tip over" bars are already bent... To make matters worse, it appears to have been tipped on both sides as they are both bent! Now my first project is going to be taking them off and bending them back to somewhere near proper arrangement. Any suggestions on how to do this? Or should I just toss them and find some new?suzib6sw wrote:May want to look for Light Bar..

From the D4D page - Voyager XII Shifter & Driving Light Bar - Shifter for VXII. Also have a steel bar that would go between front tip over bars to strengthen and provide location for driving lights, black painted finish. For more information, contact Allen Boethel (The Hippi). The email link on there doesnt work so Im not sure if he is still reachable. Looks like its probably oldhippi59@yahoo.com.Muleears wrote:Thanks Pete, that is my ultimate goal but I have been unable to find one. Muleears:: If the tubes themselves are not bent, It would be easier to strraighten each unit while still on the MC. If the tubes are bent it would be better just to get some off e-bay. They are just mounted on metal ears and if not bent real bad should be ok, Just grab hold and pull or use a lever. A 1" alum bar is not expensive and anyone, or small machine shop, with a metal lathe can turn the ends down, and should not charge $10.00 to do it, takes about 10min and then you can polish it up to a good shine. A stainless bar is about $30.00 and still not a problem to turn it down, and polishes up real nice. Good luck with the project.

I'm sure the tubes are bent Doug, I know its more than just the mounting ears being bent. I guess I'll look on ebay. Thanks for the suggestion about the other stuff too.

Re: I can't find it! Tip-over bar brace thread.
I have bent them back (if they aren't bent too bad) by clamping the ear in a vice and tweaking it back. I use a solid aluminum bar in between the crash bars. 7/8" inch if I recall. Light sanding on the bar and a flapper/drum sanding on the inside of the crashbars so everything goes together semi-easily. The tension once everything is tightened down makes the whole unit really solid. Couple Kuryakyn Magnum Quick clamps for light mounts and it's time to hit the road. You could get a shower rod or stainless tube and sleeve the aluminum rod so that the crash bar and tie bar are the same diameter all the way across.

Re: I can't find it! Tip-over bar brace thread.
Thanks Chris. I've been able to bend the right one back into position. I will continue to work on the left, access is the problem. I have bought a 24" piece of black iron water pipe that I will cut to fit between the tip over bars. I also have a 24" chrome towel rack on the way to place over the water pipe to make it look pretty. On my ebay watch list is two different pairs of bars if I can't get this straightened out!Chris near Kansas City wrote:I have bent them back (if they aren't bent too bad) by clamping the ear in a vice and tweaking it back. Found this one on Flea Bay about a year ago, it's power coated and someone is making them, I don't remember who it was, I'll see if I still have the invoice for it, and yes I just took this pic for this tread, and no I haven't put it on the bike yet, I got to get that done someday.

Jim you should be able to check your purchase history on eBay &/or PayPal to identify the seller.
Also if you're not going to use it I'll take it of your hands. If anything, just so it doesn't feel neglected!

Re: I can't find it! Tip-over bar brace thread.
If I'm not mistaken, it was Harrison Specialties who were re-manufacturing this light bars. The quality was very good. I also believe he has since stopped making them. At one time he advertized in the Voyager Voice.gearheadfla wrote:Found this one on Flea Bay about a year ago, it's power coated and someone is making them, I don't remember who it was, I'll see if I still have the invoice for it, and yes I just took this pic for this tread, and no I haven't put it on the bike yet, I got to get that done someday.
I believe this is the current link to his webstore: http://www.harrisonspecialties.com/bran ... lties.html
