As has been said, all of us ride what we desire or what we can afford. Maybe we should lay off the negative comments. Be happy with what you ride or get another ride.
During a recent ride I fell over. A Harley rider saw what happened and hustled to my assistance. He even had a beard and was big.

Bob's right. The riding community is too small to include cannibals. :wnk2:

People relax in different ways. Some enjoy boating and others enjoy horses, cycling, mountain climbing, etc. For me relaxation is taking my bike out on a beautiful scenic backroad and just enjoying nature and the wind. It is therapeutic for me as I leave all the cares of the world behind and enjoy the ride. Anyone else feel this way?

Im far from the last person to say not to stereotype people but you definitely cant judge a biker by his looks. Im 35 years old, 6'4", 295 lbs, shaved head, covered in tattoos and up until a couple weeks ago I had an 8" goatee. I may reek of harley chopper look but Im old jap cycle through and through! :gig: Oh and my favorite music is oldies.

I dont care what you ride or how ya look, if youre on two wheels and having a problem Im there to help.

I'm also 6'1", 225 and built thickly, have a bunch of tats, #2 on the head, and a 6" Walrus goat, with a VERY deep voice.

Since Ethel (name I started calling the XII lately-she's a premium bike) is waiting for parts, I rode my wife's Vulcan 800 (looks and rides like a mid 90's HD softtail) to work yesterday (don't know about you all, but when I was a kid, it seemed the thing to do was to name a vehicle if it was special to you - usually a female name). Started out in the mid 50's and this ride reminded me how much more comfortable that Ethel is to commute with, let alone travel on. I honked the horn at 55mph, and in my full face helmet and plugs couldn't hear it (Wolo is on the bench just waiting to get a relay to put it on).
When I pull into the garage at work on my bike, no one comes out to see who is there (they don't hear it), but two did yesterday (they heard that V-twin rumble in).
I ordered chaps this morning (engine guard), and found I need to adjust her handlebars to allow for less arm stretch (put a Corbin seat on it for her for Christmas). So riding it was educational, but I miss Ethel's good looks and comfort (let alone her accessory's).
I admit my wife's bike has that rumble and Harley like thing going for it, but how does she put up with that loud rumble in her ears for 8 to 10 hours of a riding day on a trip. Fun to ride for short rides though.
As to clearing the head, i think the vibration does help the marbles up there shake loose and drop out. :wnk2: :bat:

I appreciate any who choose to leave the mundane comfort of a cager to venture out and enjoy this world God gave us on just two wheels no matter what they ride. :thewave:
Just my observations and hope you all take this for the fun I meant it in.
Enjoy.

PS. Speaking of, I need to get to work, bye

Doesn't shock me about the BMW's (having owned 9 of them) , but most of the rider's ride high miles on these machines each year , this in turn adds to the issues they develop. The Harley's I have owned (owned 5 of these and currently have one in my garage next to a few other bikes (including a 1990 Voyager XII) have proved to be reliable and also easy to do normal maintence on. My 2002 Road King Classic has over 70,xxx miles on it, My Voyager XII has 112 , xxx miles on it. All motorcycles have weak links....some exposed more due to rider's subjecting them to extreme riding days repeatedly. I love all motorcycles , so I do find this article to be tongue in cheek.

The group I ride with is a mix,but mostly Harleys. one of the fun parts is the ribbing going on between us. I am quick to point out when we are setting on the side of the road that a Harley put us there, last time it was a Yamaha, BTW, a Kawasaki has never broke down on our rides, and yes I am quick to tell them that. But the truth is ALL bikes can break down. Another funny thing is one of the Harley riders in our group is the first to start blasting the Harleys. It's all good, it's not what you ride, it's how you roll is what counts.
