Leg room
Any mods that can be done to move me back a ways? The passenger seat is back all the way but I still feel cramped.

Re: Leg room
If you have stock seats and he rear is back then your only option would be to switch to an aftermarket seat. Not sure of brand/maker but there is one which is a single piece, it may offer more leg room/distance for you. Or customize your own seat! Do you feel creative?

Re: Leg room
Actually JRichard got ahold of me today about that. :)
Getting some measurements from him so see if that will get me moved back enough.
Any experience with these Diamond seats? Opinions on comfort and quality?

Re: Leg room
I have a velour covered diamond seat on my '96. It was on it when I purchased the bike so it is not made for my specifications. My thoughts are that I sit a little closer to the faux tank than compared to using a stock seat which I use in the winter time. I also sit a tad bit higher with the diamond mounted. As far as comfort I feel there is some improvement. I'm sure if this seat was made for me it would be a better fit and feel.

Re: Leg room
Hi Nate, when I first bought mine I felt a bit cramped, my solution was to remove the back rest, and put the stock foot pegs on. Sold the set of floor board and the back rest for 100 dollars and who new that price was low, anyway I haven't missed them not once. I'm 6'-2" at 240 lbs. and feel good on the bike now even with the stock seat. Just my 2-cents. Gene

Re: Leg room
Thanks guys.
I took the backrest off tonight but it didn't make any difference. I'm going to see if I cant remount the passenger seat back further tomorrow. I also called the upholsterer that made the seat for my XS. I think I'm going to make my own seat pan and have him build me a new one. That way I can sit on it every step of the way and make sure it fits perfect.
I don't have any stock foot pegs but I'm not sure if they would change anything. I looked at the Voyager I picked up last week and it looks like they're in the same spot as my foot boards.

Re: Leg room
I have the same problem. I'm getting crippled up, had one hip replaced, now looking at a knee. It might force me to quit riding. I took the rear seat rails off and went to a friends with good tooling and we made the seat racks longer. I took the spring and hardware for the catch, (which are damaged) off. It stays all the way back while your on it anyway. Got a used seat on ebay, so it can go to stock condition. I gained maybe an inch, which helped. My thoughts were have the rear seat custom made as mentioned, or I may take it off and put a foam pad or something back there that doesn't look to hokey. I'm anxious to hear what you do, or other ideas.

Re: Leg room
I took the rear seat off today and rode and it made a big difference. I could slide back and stretch out. And scooting back a little made it easier to get my feet off the pegs.

Re: Leg room
I'm only 6' and have the same problem. They made the front foot pegs with more of a sport bike position. When your on the bike your legs from the knee down are angled towards the back of the bike. Not comfortable for a touring bike.
I think I'm going to try and fab up some brackets to move the foot pegs forward about 8 inches and that should give me the room I need.

Re: Leg room
I have had the same issues as well at 6' myself. Most of the time out on the highway now I rest my heels on the foot pegs, and let my toes sit on the crash bar. My feet are over the top of the controls and gives my a chance to change my position just enough to let my back and hips be more comfortable.

Re: Leg room
I am anything but tall but I suggest you find some good aftermarket pegs like Kuriakens and mount them on the engine guards. If you do it like I did you can put the heals of your boots on the bikes pegs and the front of your shoes on the aftermarket units and will give you room to stretch out comfortably.

Re: Leg room
As a member of the six-foot club myself, I have found increased seat height to be helpful (in addition to the aforementioned highway pegs; and the practice of resting my heels on the pegs and my toes on the crash bars). I have a sheep skin covered gel pad that adds about a half-inch of height, and sometimes I slide a piece of dense foam (camping sleeping pad) inside the seat pad case for an additional half-inch. So during the course of a long day in the saddle, I may ride on the bare seat awhile, add the gel pad for awhile, then add the dense foam pad for awhile before rotating back to the seat. A half-inch to an inch of additional height doesn't sound like much but I find it often provides some welcome relief.
