FLOOR BOARD COVERS
....Been looking for a set of covers for some time now ,because I did'nt like the un-finished look of the passenger floorboards, when they were in the up position.
Wanted a set from Markland, that have the Kawasaki logo on them, but I knew they were obsolete, and was looking into some aftermarkets, and was having the dealer look into some that might fit the Vulcan line.
Got a p.m. from Carl last week, saying that he came across a set of oldies ,and did I want them. YES please send them to me, was my answer So I got my
"care package" in the mail couple days later.
Over the weekend , before getting started on the red Goldwing project , I thought I would look into installing the covers. After removing the floorboards from the bike and drilling the holes in the bottom side, I placed the covers on the floorboards to have a look, while still on the workbench, without the fasteners in place. A big gap that was present, looked bad.Part of the casting process left a point in the front corner, that needs to be removed to get a clean look.
Chuck up a cutter into the ol dremmel tool, made short work of the problem!
Took the height down a bit, and made a inward taper. Now the piece is laying flat, and has a clean look, all away around the edge.
Just a tip, if anyone else is thinking of getting these covers for their bike. Not necessary to be so A.R. but this is how I waste my spare time "noodling" around out in the garage....., anyway ,here's a look at the install......tony
MUCH BETTER !! , Now if we can talk G.KAP into making these

Re: FLOOR BOARD COVERS
Had the wife plug one of the part numbers into bikebandit.com's website while I lay here on the couch surfing with my phone. About $43 for the one side she checked. I think the Vulcan ones have some contour to them. No Kaw badging though.

Re: FLOOR BOARD COVERS
Unlike Chris, I sat up at my desk & looked at a few dealers. lol $33-$45 each. I'd think used ones could be found for half that..

After I installed those floor board covers that I got from Carl sometime ago...I went and did something different after that (see link).
I still have the covers shown in the first thread out in the shop somewhere, would have to look around for them.

Re: FLOOR BOARD COVERS
The prices posted above are about right. One side was more expensive than the other side is all I remember. They have held up well over the years.
