Summer at last ?

Post by ekap1200 »

Southern New Jersey riding was with T-shirt and light jacket today. Bugs on the windshield and all. :woohoo: First ride solo this year, and this is what the Voyager was made for in my opinion. Headed out towards the Atlantic ocean on a back road then done the loop south to the tip and up the Delaware bay side and looped eastward toward the middle of the state and meandered back down home. All in all a good day with 208 on the clock non stop riding.. :woohoo: Gene Kap. The north east riding season may have finally begun.....

...Sounds like a great ride/day Gene.... on another note.... we had a 9-ball tournament at my house today, ..after it was over, we sat out on the front porch for a smoke... got my first mosquito bite of the year ! REALLY ! ! too soon for that.

It's funny you say that Ron. Gene called me after his ride to give me instructions on the trunk mirror! The mirror is in and the RTV is curing. It and the vent covers are great! Really dress up the bike. I highly recommend!
Good talking to you Gene, and thanks again.

Yes BUT , after the morning I had working on a HD. I needed to twist the grip. A friend has an 03 ultra ( W/ anti-lock ) and it needed rubber. I stopped in to HELP. Well ( I ) get the wheels off and the rims are a mess from salt and neglect. So I don't take them to swap yet. He is going to get the rotors off and clean them up.
I stop back later in the week to pick them up, and he , not wanting to work at cleaning them, buys another set off of e-bay from a 2013 ultra. ( LOOKS THE SAME ) NOT. the old rims and rubber are gone. So I take them and put the new rubber on and yesterday early morning go to install. Well ; seems the front has a bearing placement issue on one side, ( oh just about 1/8th into the hub a bit more) , this found as I begin to just hand tighten the axle pulling the fork and caliper into the rotor. So off with the wheel to wait on an answer from some harley guys on what I am missing or is it a different spacer between the bearing. Don't know without having the wheel that came off the machine now . Was a simple job and I could of had both the rear and front and pads installed on about an hour ,20 min. Now three road trips to location later, it is still up on his lift , ( that I ended up repairing to get the bike up in the first place. ) Frustrated and bewildered at this free job gone sour, I was in a foul mood towards harley's. And with no good hand cleaner at his place I left there with blackened hands and looking at another trip back to finish the job.
:devl Made it my mission to fly by every HD I came up on in my travels yesterday. Truly enjoyable . So today I must make it up and get 2 orders ready for shipment tomorrow .

Should have done what they do on Orange County Choppers and just grind down an 1/8th of an inch off the spacer and be done with it. As for the HD, I agree about leaving them in the dust when possible. I have done that a few times myself. I imagine it is depressing not to be able to ride during those long snow bound winters. I have never experienced one and hope I never will.

Woke up to snow on the ground, and the wife tells me the doors on the car are frozen shut! We rode the bike a week ago -- short riding season here, in tropical Southern Minnesota... Sure could use some of that there Global Warming stuff, eh?
