AVA Website Gets a Facelift

Post by debron »

OK, Sunday was a cold, rainy, nasty day with thunder, lightning, and a fair amount of hail thrown in the mix (but no tornadoes!) I couldn't ride and I couldn't hike so I started messing around with the AVA website and forum. What are your thoughts on the new look? I couldn't make the forum exactly like the website because of the way the forum is designed - some of the text would have been unreadable.

I can switch back to the old look at the flip of a switch or two (metaphorically speaking.)

Check out the website here:

(Note: if everything looks the same, hit your browser's "refresh" button.)

I don't know if it's showing up on mine the same as everyone else but the gray borders feel cold and uninviting.
Needs a splash of happy colors

I get the gray also but instead of feeling uninviting I think it helps put the focus on the threads instead of keeping the eyes busy being over distracted. JMHO!
I like it, too much stimulation makes me tired! :rolling:

I don't know about "happy," but it was the job of the green and the very light yellow text to provide the relief and contrast to the gray. I do need to do something about the Title and subtitle at the top of the page. The black text doesn't cut it. Also, I like the way the website turned out better than the forum but the website design won't work with the forum.

Bill, if you have any suggestions as to what some "happy" colors might be, I will experiment with them when I return from my somewhat delayed annual spring ride in two weeks. (Leaving Saturday.)

My intent was to create a clean, possibly somewhat sophisticated look. I always felt the blue/yellow of the previous design was amateurish looking.

As I stated,"I personally" feel the gray is cold and uninviting.
I like colors that make you feel like your hanging out with a bunch of Voyager riders.
You may have accomplished "sophisticated",but I think you lost the smile. :thk:
