Shock oil?

Post by Muleears »

I have searched and found lots on fork oil, but nothing on replacing shock oil. My bike does have oil in the shocks, correct? Is there a DIY on changing it somewhere? Or is it so simple a DIY isn't necessary?

OT: what wildcards can we use in the searches?

Thanks in advance

Place + in front of a word which must be found and - in front of a word which must not be found. Put a list of words separated by | into brackets if only one of the words must be found. Use * as a wildcard for partial matches.

NorCal Voyagers has video on shock oil change. I changed mine a few years back and used a 1/ and 1/2 mixture of 10 & 5 wt fork oil. A number of manufactures make a 7 wt shock oil.

Hey! I'll take any advice offered! Thanks!

I've found how much oil I need to put back in after draining and the method to do so, but haven't found what kind... Do they use fork oil? :Cball

I'm no lightweight so the damping will need to be robust.....

I also got the NorCal Voyagers video ($10) and it was a great help on changing the shock oil. I may have used synthetic 7wt (or 7.5wt) fork oil. Can't remember for sure. But I highly recommend the video!
