so very excited. I 'upgraded' from a 1983 Goldwing 1100 interstate to the UNBELIEVABLE 1983 1300 voyager. a few concerns tho. the 'guy' I got it from (second owner, originally purchased by his father) says nothing to worry about, but I am a worrier. oil light blinks constantly. level is good. also, on the first test run, the temp light blinked. he says faulty sensors, and it seems to run great, just wondering if I am missing anything.
any comments/tips are most appreciated.
thanks much
input please.

Re: input please.
Welcome.
You now own the greatest motorcycle ever built.
As for the oil light ,thats a common fault.
You can usually stop it by changing oil and /or using an "engine cleaning " additive .
The sensor is in the oil pan and a lot of work to get to.Most people just ignore it and check the level regularly.
As for the temp gauge. These bikes run hot but, unless you let it idle for a long time ,it should not be hot enough in Ill to really get that hot.you may want to check/change your coolant and maybe go with something like Engine Ice .

Re: input please.
Thanks for the info. Oil was changed last night, and coolant will be this weekend. actually was just out for a ride to see if the oil change improved anything, about 45 degrees (cold weather for me for riding, but excited!) anyway, the oil light flashed all the time, and the temp light was on for a while, but nothing boiling over. I don't know, but I do love the bike. :)

Once that sensor gets dirty it's hard to get clean.Gpa_Joe wrote:Thanks for the info. Use your favorite additives and you may have success.
You might want to do a flush on your radiator before adding new coolant.
