Choke cable

Post by grayblob »

Anybody know where I can get a choke cable for my 86 XII? I've done some looking online, but only find one on ebay that is for an 87-2000. Did the cable size/design change from the 86 to the 87?

Carl's info is not on the main (or any) page and hasn't been for almost a year. You can find his contact info in the "Members" section (top right in the menu bar.)

Thanks! Sent him an email. The choke cable is more of a nuisance than a problem, but I definitely want to take care of it.

The thumb adjuster on the handlebar separates/splits in half, DO NOT try to twist it off or twist when separating. Just pull apart.

Hi Everyone,
I do not know if my choke switch was replaced before I got my 95 Voyager, But I had to replace my choke switch it was a solid ring. I ended up Taking off the L/H controls and the hand grip and sliding off the old switch and sliding the new one back on. I even got the new
part from Kawasaki.

I just change mine and is not to bad, when you install it on the bike start with the handle bar first and than the carburetor slide, for me was easier like that.

I received an email from Carl with a part number so I can order the cable. It turns out that I had seen the cable in some parts diagrams, but the part was labeled "cable, starter” so I didn't consider that it could be the correct part.

I'm thankful there are such great people here that are willing to share their hard earned skill and knowledge.

I just changed mine tonight. Once I got rid of the added junk two owners prior put in place of the choke cable (a silly finger push that was annoying as heck), the cable went in easily. I did just like everyone else said, start at the hand control end and work down to the carbs.

Thank you again!!
