cell phones/texting

Post by Air Force »

Time to RANT!!!!! :dm: :dm: :dm: :dm:
Went to the MC shop about an hour ago. Twenty five mile round trip. I had two close calls because of idiots on cell phones!!!! :dm: :dm: :dm: :dm: Everybody just be extra careful! I'm not a hard liquor drinker but a shot of Jack right now would probably help settle my nerves.

Gee Chris only two in twenty five miles. Here in NJ that would be considered a good day. I have even had police officers drift into my lane while on their cell phones. It has gotten out of hand, and I can't understand why it is so important to be on the phone. Being on the road here is like coming off the starting line of a motor-cross track. When I gave the officer the finger he pulled me over and with an attitude said " what are you a wise guy, it was official business " My answer was kiss my arse I'm emailing the Mayor when I get home. He changed his attitude but I still emailed the mayor. As for the rest of the idiots , well you can't fix stupid unless you :bat: beat them in the head.

The world has gone smart phone mad. Have you bothered to look at people sitting in a restaurant, in a mall or even a movie theater? Nobody is paying attention to the people around them because their faces are buried in that 4" screen. I recently went to dinner with my daughter and her family and even the kids sat there texting instead of socializing. I purposely DON'T have a smart phone. I have an ordinary flip phone setup for voice mode only. I refuse to let these things control my life the way it is doing others. It is like the Zombie Apocalypse is already here. :tho:

It is illegal in Oregon but you still see it all the time. And people do get tickets. . . but not enough.

Hi Everyone,
It is also illegal to drive and talk on a cell phone while driving in New York State!
I still see alot of drivers still doing it. What really takes the cake is not talking on them but texting while driving. I ended up getting out of a coworkers car and walking home because they
kept texting while driving. If you are going to kill yourself and maybe some other driver I do not want to be in on it.

I just may buy a cell jammer and wire it into my Voyager provided I can find one that really works with a 100+ yard range.

Love me or HATE me, but I think there is a time when vigilante justice is justified.
The sad truth is no one will know if a 911 call was jammed by this fellow but we can obviously tell that some thoughtless drivers who may have otherwise endangered others got jammed as well.

Using a Jammer will really get you in major trouble with the feds. You can buy them online, but it's not worth the risk.
Funny how the penalty to jam phone use is harsher the the law banning cell phone use when driving.

They already have the technology to fix this. Almost all smart phones have gps', now. Make it a law that all Smart Phones must disable all visual and/or keypad functions if the Smart Phone is traveling at a greater speed of walking. Over "0" mph would be my preferred. If over 5 mph, incoming calls will only send via bluetooth to a handsfree or vehicle bluetooth receiver.

Done....

$175 fine up here in Canada in my province(like a state) for distracted driving (cell phone, putting on makeup, eating, etc) but it is still rampant. Ridonkulous!

I have read several articals about the phones being deactivated when the phone is moving. It can be done, congress just needs to push it through. I'm all for it, but this is probably one of those thing big money won't let happen. How many phone minutes are logged when vehicles are moving?

Ride safe.

I have been informed by my IT son that smart phones are being produced that are self-disableing if in motion, however (there's always a "however") it can be made functional if you indicate to the phone, you are a "passenger"!??? So much for that crap!

A guy in Central Florida near Orlando was arrested because he got so tired of the idiots being distracted by texting or talking on their smart phones that he put a jammer in the trunk of his car. The phone companies were having a hard time figuring out why it was their customers were seeing their service dropping off in the same area around the same times each day. They investigated, figured out what was happening, then managed to track down the culprit.

http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/25405289/ ... interstate

I've had many near misses on both local roads and on the interstate when dealing with distracted drivers. I had one woman who repeatedly drifted into my lane and almost caused me to run off the road. When we came to a stop light, she must have noticed someone was staring at her. She turned and looked at me and said "WHAT?" to which I asked her to politely put down her phone so that we all arrived alive at our destination. Her response? A hand gesture and an F-Off before getting back on her phone.
