Waterproof and less than $120. it looks great
May have to replace my aging Zumo 550, which also needs a map upgrade(another $50.)

Looks good! Lot of bang for your buck. Doesn't say it works with gloves, however. Other than that, it looks great! May have to bookmark that link... Cheers!

It does look good, but there is no mention of maps or other routing capabilities included. Cushman Eagle, you deserve for taking the plunge sight unseen. Hopefully you'll share your evaluation of the unit with the rest of us.

Just buy a cheap Garmin Nuvi with lifetime map updates, works great on our bike. If it rains, carry a plastic bag

I agree a cheap Garmin would be a better option as you get all the map updates and they are very reliable.
Slightly off topic, do you find the suction cup mount holds on the bikes windshield?

I use a Ram handle bar gps mount- Here in Mn mounting anything on a windshield is illegal. And I never worry about it coming off the mount.

I've been very happy with my Ram handlebar mount, but I recently bought a Magellan Roadmate 5230T-LM for the car for less than $120.00. I was very impressed by this unit and wanted to try it on the bike. Unfortunately it is bigger than my last GPS, so the mount wouldn't fit. I also wanted to be able to move it from car to bike with a minimum of bother, so I was looking for a method of using the suction cup holder provided with the unit. The method I came up with was to bolt a piece of plexiglass to the steering head/ignition switch cover, using slightly longer screws.



Since I didn't entirely trust the suction cup to hold on the bike, I needed a "security cable" to prevent the unit flying off in the wind. My solution was a piece of elasticised drawstring from an old jacket, complete with the little pushbutton adjuster threaded through holes in the plexiglass. This can be snapped tightly over the mounting base, and can also be used to keep the GPS cable out of the way when not in use.



The GPS mounts neatly, very easy to see when in motion, with surprisingly little vibration.



The GPS is NOT waterproof, but it has some great features for such an inexpensive unit, including free lifetime map updates, the complete AAA handbook for all states and provinces, large screen with large letters, great highway sign and lane indicators, speed limit and traffic camera indicators, heavy traffic notification and alternates, speed linked volume control, and unique "landmark" turn instructions. It's not Bluetooth capable, but at that price you really can't expect all the bells and whistles.

So far it has worked well. The suction cup has held, and with the larger screen and printing it has been easy to read while moving.

Another gps option.You can buy a refurbished garmin units for around $80 if you shop around.
They work great on the bike or car. I have one going on 3 years old now in my car.

I bought a GPS like this about two years ago for $149. It came preloaded with maps and is waterproof and works well with gloves. I mounted it on top of my cruise control box and have had no problems to date. I did have an issue once in that it took me to an address in a subdivision using the scenic route instead of the direct route. It has some nice features like altitude readout, posted speed limit, notification when speed limit is exceeded along with bluetooth, music player and photo player. The one draw back for me since the Voyager XII is not blue tooth capable is there is no output jack to allow you to connect it to an external speaker. At 70 mph you cannot hear the commands from the internal speaker. Considering what you get it is a much better deal dollar for dollar than the Garmin Zumo 600 series. Just my opinion.

Hey Loren, how about a report on how well the new GPS worked for you? I know you got it and was using it on the rally trip but haven't heard a final report on it as of yet!

The GPS worked ok ,and I got it to link up to the Bluetooth in my scala G-9 , ,but if I talked to my wife on the G-9,I lost all connection to the GPS The only way I could got the connection back to the GPS was to reboot both the GPS and the G-9.I am not at all impressed with the Scala G-9 I have been too busy to call Scala AGAIN,to see what can be done again.We both had our headsets charging overnight before we headed home from Asheville,and the battery died on Pegs set before we got to Charleston,so the last 4 1/2 hours home we had no intercom.
