Ipod not working

i recently inherited my son's old Ipod. I am using a cassette driver to use it on my 98 Voyager. The Ipod worked fine the first few times I used it on short rides to work, but I took a couple hour ride recently and after about 1 hour of use it started to cut in and out. I switched to radio and that works fine, but when going back to Tape, it still cuts in and out and the right speaker clicks. Any ideas?

Not an expert, but my first suspicion would be the cassette adapter.
