Post by feenixx613 »

Hi just wondering why my rear speakers are about 30 % as load as my front ones ? Is this the case for my fellow Xii riders? is there a cause ?Is there a fix? Thanks in advance Rob!

Have you checked the obvious areas like the fader control on the left fairing or checking the mute button on the passenger controls?

The front and rear speakers are essentially wired in parallel.. With the exception of the Fader by your left knee, there is nothing else to control their volume.

The only exception to a faulty fader is a different make/model speaker than the front..
Typically the stock speakers are 4 ohms impedance. If someone has replaced the rears with 8 ohm or 16 ohm speakers, that will also cause a lower output than the front..
Finally, it could be water damage on the voice coils.. but for both to go at the same time seems a tad odd..

Correct me if I am wrong Pete, but if the fader is malfunctioning, can't it be removed and sprayed with an electronic contact cleaner? Also isn't just a stereo pot?

Correct, its removable and replaceable.. What tends to happen is the track burns out or the wiper arm pad burns..

Certainly replaceable.. Plenty on flea-bay ;-)
